they will have scooters this year for the first time (knee issues but can walk if necessary), and we are wondering if we should lug the scooters with us on the bus as well as the "walk" to the campfire - is it scooter-friendly? advice welcome on whether to bring ECVs or leave them in the room. TIA

(posted this to theme park strategies and didn't get a response so maybe this is the more apt place to ask)

Are you coming from a different resort? Or staying at the campground? If they can handle it and you are coming from a different resort I say leave them, because of the number of transfers you need to take to get there.(Bus From resort to park, Bus from park to campground, and then internal bus) Additionally the majority of the bleachers and benches area is covered in gravel, so I don't know how the ECV would hold up. The area near the campfire is paved and so is the walkway. I would say it is about a 5 minute walk from the bus stop and then there is plenty of seating. Also if you want smores bring your own stuff with you if you can, you can buy it for less than what they charge for the kits.

. . . yes
. . . no reason to omit scooters
. . . the buses can accommodate them
. . . sometimes wheel chairs have problems, but *usually* scooters work fine

is it scooter-friendly?
. . . yes
. . . no steps

. . . certainly
. . . based upon degree of bad-knees, it could still a small hike from bus, possibly across the street, past-and-behind the pool to campfire

We went with a wheelchair, and it was a bit limiting because of the "pea-gravel". There was no easy way to get to the fire pit on the left (stage right). Perhaps scooters do not have an issue. Walk to the campfire was easy, center aisle was paved etc.

I was so excited to do this on our last year. DH and I schlepped all the way out there only to find that the gravel made it pretty much impossible for my wheelchair. We were there for 5 minutes, figured out it wasn't doable, and took the long bus trek back.

However, I would imagine scooters could probably handle the gravel better.

Unless the gravel is packed pretty well, scooters do have problems in it. My 3 wheeled Go-Go had trouble with the narrow front wheel in gravel at our garden center but I up-graded to the Go-Go Sport after a few years. It has more ground clearance & wider wheels that do much better but still has a little trouble with turns.
