I am new to the Dis and would like to tell a special story that took place this past June. My family used to average 1-2 trips a year to WDW until 6 years ago. Due to an unforeseen family tragedy we missed these past 6 years. We finally returned "home" last June. My daughter is now 15 and had a special memory from when she was a little girl that I wanted repeated for her 15th birthday at Liberty Tree Tavern. When she was 8 we ate there and Chip spent quite a bit of time with her and even tried to feed her with her spoon. Quite a funny photo and memory. This past trip I arrived at the podium ahead of my daughter and spoke to the hostess. I told her the story and asked for magic to happen. When we were seated there was confetti on the table and a Mickey Mouse stuffed animal with birthday balloons. We were about the 10th table for each character to greet, but when Chip came out he headed straight for my daughter (Natalie). He spent about 6 minutes at our table and, yes, tried to feed her!! He even had a signed card from him to her, welcoming her back, and saying that he had missed her. More hugs during his regular rotation. Needless to say I was in tears. This was a trip I thought may never happen because of things that happened in our lives. WDW is magic and innocense.
Another special memory, however now I see that Liberty Tree Tavern no longer has character meals. How very sad.
