Chip and pin useage in the parks?

We have been visiting the USA (Connecticut) all week and almost every store we have been to we have had to do chip and pin.

No they have the chip reader, but you don't use a PIN code unless you have a debit card. Chip and sign. I have three credit cards with chips and never have been asked to use a pin code (don't even have a pin number, actually) and I'm in CT.

Debit card vs. credit card isn't part of the equation when it comes to PIN vs. signature. Which option you use is in fact determined by your card issuer. Banks in the US lean to signature for credit cards and financial institutions in other countries prefer the PIN verification.

never been asked for a PIN, not sure I know what it is or if I have one.
Just got back from Canada.......they swiped and I signed.
In US swipe and sign or pin and sign................if under a certain amount, especially at a store I frequent a lot, no signature

I don't think it matters if if is debit or credit, I think it is dependent on the issuer whether you use chip & pin or chip & signiture. Almost everywhere we went in CT we have had to enter a pin #. I remember never using the chip in my CC, then using chip & signature, then target using chip & pin and now most retailers using chip & pin. The only place so far that hasn't required chip and pin are restaurants. I think the reason I have to enter a pin # is because my card is Canadian issued and in Canada all Credit cards are chip & pin.

Oh I didn't know you were a Canadian initially. Yes, here in the US I don't think that very many cards have chip and pin, we are just now converting to having a chip at all, and it's chip and sign.
