China being replaced at VWL

They're putting generic white in all DVC resorts because people were stealing the themed china for souvenirs. It was too much temptation. I can't tell you how many times I checked into a villa and found one mug missing, or one whole place setting.

This is why we can't have nice things!

You know I was thinking, dangerous I know, if they are saying it is being replaced with generic white because it was being stolen by guests, did they not realize guests have always done that when they put the Fiestaware in there to begin with.



Did they suddenly have an epiphany after years that gee guess they are taking the dishes home with them.

Can you imagine how out of place that white is going to look at the AKV.

I doubt it had anything to do with theft. Likely it saves wherehouse space, and cost much less to replace missing/broken/damaged items if all the onsite dishware is identical.

Anyone know for sure which resorts have not gone white yet?

I need to complete our Fiestaware 12 place set before it's all gone and it looks like I will need to come up with a different idea for Christmas gifts this year.

I saw lots of the old Fiestaware for sale at the cast only store in February. Looked like OKW colors to me.

It was BEAT UP, at least what was left when I saw it. Really scratched up and worn.

I switched to Fiesta here at home a few years ago, and I love it! Even though we are BCV owners, I think certain colors of if remind me of OKW. (which is a good memory indeed).

I will be sad if they switch out the AKV dinnerware with plain white. We really loved the themed dishes there. It really added to the feeling that you were staying off in an African lodge.

Who in their right mind steals dishes from a resort? If you can afford to stay in a DVC resort (as a member or renting points), you should be able to afford your own dishes. I hope this wasn't the reason for the change. I really liked the small touch that the Fiesta dishes added to the villas.

This was my first thought when reading this thread, I have already emailed MS and let them know that this is a very sad change and hopefully one that will not spread to the other resorts.

The dishes were part of the theme of each resort. My suitcase is really going to get heavy if I have to pack dishes too.

Waaaaaahhhh! The white dishes here at HH are such a bore! I miss the Fiestaware. I am going to lodge a "complaint" to DVC when I get home.

OKW has gone to all white as well. I miss the Fiesta Ware, but the generic stuff I'm sure is less expensive to replace. I really liked the Fiesta Ware bowls for cereal much better.

Yeah, I was disappointed to see the Fiesta ware gone last trip too. LOVED those Fiesta ware bowls. In fact, I went out and bought bowls to keep in our Owner's Locker.

Just returned home today from VWL and the kitchen cupboard was filled with the white china BORING !!!!!!
