Pre-TR here if you missed it.
Saturday 25th September 2010
We are up at 6am to travel to the airport, this is the first time we've not stayed over at Gatwick but it was an attempt to save money, also with our Virgin flight not being till 1pm we had more time to get there. Our train was at 8:34am and we arrive 10 mins early for the hour and a half journey. At the airport there is no queue to check in and we are waved upstairs for security (meaning we found Frankie & Benny's which we'd been looking for last year).
We go into Duty Free where I get some make-up and smell pretty much every perfume in there, I like most of them so opt for the cheapest which is Beyonce's new one, Mike also sniffs all the men's and end up with D&G Light Blue.
Next stop is breakfast, we try the Bridge, I opt for a sausage bap, Mike goes for Bacon, and I wash it down with a lovely hot chocolate, Mike gets tea, out of the window we have a view of a Virgin plane which turns out to be ours.
A quick stop in WH Smiths and then its onto the gate where we get some free newspapers and magazines. We board the plane and find its full of complaining people, a few people are complaining that their parties have been split up, the cabin crew explain that a lot of people have had to move seats as a lot of couples had tried to get a row of 3 to themselves by booking a window and an aisle seat. Later on the man behind us moans about food for his son then argues with his wife a lot and does nothing about his son constantly kicking me in the back.
After take off we get the normal pretzels and a drink, our dinner choices are sausage and mash, sweet and sour chicken or veggie pasta. I only watch the one fil, Iron Man 2, Mike watches Diary of a Wimpy Kid then Shrek. I play on the games (its the first time we've had them on the Orlando flight) including battleships against someone on board, I win of course. We get the normal ice cream snack and a cookie but it has currents in - yuck. Sandwichs are the same as last time, coronation chicken or cheese and pickle, I remember they weren't nice last time so opt for neither, I'm hungry though so ask for another bag of pretzels.
Once landed we go into immigration to find its just one long queue now and its very very long, so long in fact before we get to the front we can see our cases going round and round. At Dollar we find another long queue, we are served by a female Hurley (Lost) who puts the hard sell on us, we don't upgrade. Into the car park there is only one cheapo car left but then a red one is returned and I take this as a sign so we opt for that one.
We have no problems getting to the hotel or checking in, we are assigned room 4116 in Building 4 at POFQ. It turns out to be a great location, its near the food court, car park, and swimming pool but not on a main route which meant the fact it was on the ground floor was not an issue. We liked our room, only issue being the beds seemed really small.
After I unpack we head over to DTD via the water taxi, we think this will be quick even though there is a big queue, 5 boats later we realise it wasn't the best idea. Straight into EOS where we find another huge queue, in all it takes an hour and a quater to be sat down eating from leaving our room, and when your starving that's a lot. We both get the meatball sub and share some crisps. We have a look in a few shops then decide to get the bus back, we just miss one and then its a 15 min wait for the next, it goes to 4 POR stops before our one and the bus is freezing so not the best end to the day but I don't care i'm in WDW!
