I have a great chili recipe that I usually make in a dutch oven on my stove top. However, we're in a hurry tomorrow...so I thought I might try to do it in my crock pot so it will be ready right when we come home from work. Any tips on converting a regular chili recipe into a crock pot recipe? It uses chicken...which should cook just fine on the bottom of the crock pot. I may have to shred it later...but that won't take long.

I just made chili tonite! I cooked(browned) the meat on the stove and threw all of the other ingredients into the crockpot. When the meat was done,I threw that in as well. I set the crockpot to 6 hours and it cooked all afternoon(stirred it occassionally) According to my family, this tasted even better than ever. Good luck!

I always do my chili in the crock pot. I have never done it with chicken though.

I always do my chile in the crock pot. Made some today for Oscar viewing! :teeth:

Low and slow, darlin'. Put it on the lowest setting and let it go all day long.

I also always cook my chili in a crock pot and it is great! Should be fine with chicken;)

The most general rule in crock pot cooking is to use less liquid -- unlike stove top cooking, all the moisture is going to be trapped inside.

The other thing to note is that flavors from herbs and spices might intensify in a crock pot, so I'd lean toward going on the lighter side the first time you make it, knowing that the first batch might be a little "weak".

Thanks folks...the ingredients are in the crock pot...but I did put it on high because I wanted that chicken to be cooked (just some frozen chicken tenders--I've been turned off of ground meat lately). I may run home and switch it to low.

Thanks!
