We will be traveling with my boyfriend's younger brother this spring. He JUST turned 10. Has anyone ever purchased a child's ticket for a 10 year old and what was your experience with that? I would love to save the money on his ticket, but I don't want to get into any trouble. It's not like we will be traveling with his birth certificate or passport to prove his age.

popcorn:: :rolleyes1

Here we go again.

What does Disney say you should pay for a 10 year old? That is how much you should pay. If you are asking, "Can we lie and get away with it?" Yes, you can do that. You can teach a 10 year old that you get ahead by lying and you can live with that.

Yes you can lie and probably get away with it - i personally wouldnt be happy teaching a kid that lying to save money is the right thing.

Sheesh! I just signed up. I have plenty of additional questions!!!!! I am not the one who came up with the idea and he would be with his father most of the time. We aren't doing the dining plan so it would only affect his park hopper. I personally don't care which he gets because it is not my money that is being spent. I was just wondering if anyone had done it.

I'm sure people have done it. But that doesn't make it right. Like my daddy says "If your friends all jumped off a bridge, would you?" Disney states that anyone 10 or over must pay adult prices. So that is what you need to tell whoever is paying.

And you really can't blame people for being upset that the first thing you ask is how to break a rule. That is not what these boards are for. They are for sharing our love of all things Disney. And for sharing legitimate tips. Not to find out ways to cheat Disney.

Of course people have done it. It is just silly of you to ask about doing something that is wrong.. when you know what the prices and age requirements are.. then you know how much to pay. Will they ask for proof.. probably not.. but if they ask the 10 yr old how old they are they better be prepared to say 9 :rolleyes1

Thanks maxie! I really didn't like the idea, but I told them that I would put the idea out there so that we could find out where people stood on the idea.

I am really looking forward to this trip but it will be really trying to share a hotel room with my boyfriend's dad and brother for 5 nights. It is also very frustrating because neither of them seem very excited about the trip. Their lack of enthusiasm and the added fact that my boyfriend made me feel guilty about not taking them last year to Disneyland is really making this time stressful for me. I'm already looking into trips for just the two of us next year.

Umm, I'd dump the boyfriend (why put up with someone trying to make you feel bad?) and ask some girlfriends to go with me... Seriously, is this how you like to be treated? And sharing a room with your boyfriend's father and brother??? Tell them to get their own room!

For a 7 day ticket, it is $35 if you purchase the incorrect ticket. Not a huge slice of a WDW vacation.

schmek

the reason that they are sharing a room with me is because we are there for a conference and the room is covered by my boyfriend's company. Since I don't have to pay for it either, I can't complain about it.

My bigger issue is that I am upset that they aren't as excited about the trip as I am. It is an on going problem with his dad (stepdad actually) being an inattentive father for his younger brother and his brother not being taught to truly enjoy things in life. The only thing that gets his brother excited is WWE. (I could keep going, but I'd rather talk about the trip).

Welome to the DIS!

Ask tons of questions as you plan your trip. Keep in mind thought that DISers who've been hear a while have seen all sorts of questions -- most asked legitimately but others asked by people who were looking to stir the pot. That's why your post was questioned.

My thought it to get him an adults pass. It's not worth worrying about getting caught.

Yes, at Disney an adult begins at 10. Next time we go both of my dks will be adults. I would but the ticket the child needs according to Disney. I find things are easier that way. I wouldn't want to be worried about it the whole time. It is just not worth it to me!
Welocme to the Dis!:cool1:

I agree that a 10yo is a child but WDW ticket prices are not child and adult. WDW offers a dicsount on tickets for children 3-9 and guests 10+ pay full price. If the child is anything like my kids they would be mortified to look at the back of the ticket and see the words "guest 3-9" when they were 10+.

Ask yourself, or your boyfriend what $40.00 is worth as thats the average difference between the 3-9 and 10+ ticket.
