Not sure if this is right board for this question, however...... our 16 month old Grandson is going to be due for his first haircut about the time we are at WDW and we had heard if you get your first haircut in the barber shop in MK it is a special deal.
Any info will be appreaciated.....
Thanks

If you've never seen an Angel, imagine one.

I don't have the answer to this, but there is a great thread on the attractions & strategies board about this. I think it is still on the first page. It might give you some insight to your question.

My son had his first haircut at MK last year and it was wonderful. I can't remember the man's name ( I want to say Mike..probably wrong) but he was in the fall issue of the Disney Magazine. He used a ton of stickers to distract Jarrod and then he went about his job of cutting the hair. As soon as Jarrod began to get bored with the stickers he would pull out another toy for him to play with. They also gave him a MickeyMouse ears hat and it said First Haircut. It was a wonderful photo op and while my son will not remember it, I will always remember when that first curl was cut. Go for it and keep the camera's handy!!

We also had DS's first haircut at WDW when he was 2. I held off on the haircut until our trip, then chickened out and only had the barber cut off one curl. He was very understanding! We got the hair in a little MM envelope and a certificate. It was really cute.

we are getting my sons first haircut on my dd's bday ,11 days before his 2nd birthday.I am so excited he will actually have enough hair to cut by then. we are also having her hair cut that day,as well. We are really looking forward to it.

Do it, in November my son was 1yr old, we got his hair cut at the MK barber shop, it was fantastic, talk about disney magic. The man who cut his hair was wounderful. My son never cried once, only smiled and laughed. He took his time and put all the hair to the side for my wife to keep. I took two rolls of pictures and a lot of video. If I'm not mistaken it was 10.00 what a bargin. There was a slight wait, so be prepared. But don't miss doing this. Even if it takes an hour, wait, you won't regret it.

Have fun.

We also did this and had fun. The barbers are very good with kids. They have all kinds of fun stuff to distract the kids. We got lucky and members of the Daper Dans were in the barber shop and they also entertained our son. Lots of stickers, bubbles, etc.

And when it is all over, you get your very own Mickey ears embroidered with "first haircut" on them.

It was a few years ago but I thought the cost was about $20 or less with tip. It's a bargin when you factor in the Mickey ears and the photo op. This is still one our most memorable Disney moments.

I would definately do the first haircut. My oldest had his first haircut in 99 when he was 14 months and we just had our youngest son's haircut in February. As someone mentioned the wait can be long. We got there as soon as they opened and there was only one family ahead of us. The pictures are priceless and you can take the ears, certificate, pictures and a lock of hair and put them into a shadowbox to preserve the memories!

My daughter is now 4 1/2 years old. We have waited patiently to get her first hair cut at DW. I am sure that they will be just as wonderful with my little princess as they are with all the little boys getting their first there. That is the one thing that she tells everybody when she mention to others that we are getting ready to go!:Pinkbounc

Maybe a broken record, but definitely worth repeating...

Anyone considering doing this, for son OR daughter, DO IT!!

I (am an adult) got my hair cut there a few weeks ago - %15 for adults, $12 for children. The woman who cut it was so happy to finally be doing a "girl"'s hair - she says she sees boys and men all day long, she was just glad to have some fun with mine!! (I just turned 23 and got my long hair chopped for a new job I'm taking....BIG change for me!!)

Yes though, it's a memory of a lifetime!!!

Maybe I'll wait and get my hair cut with my children. Just make it a family affair.

We just got back Wednesday and had DS's hair cut for the third time. It is a wonderful experience. Kid's cuts are $12 and adults are $15 (don't forget to tip!) Bring camera and tissues (for the first haircut, someone's gonna cry) and enjoy!
