I wouldn't think of doing this at the buffets or for me, a grown adult, but if my (large) 12 year old wants the kids meal for one of the entertainment packages like WoC or MMSEP, can I legally buy that instead of paying the adult price for him? I'm not looking to cheat the system and no, he won't pass for a 9 year old either.

I don't have personal experience, but I've heard that you can order the kids meal food but they will give you a double portion at an adult price.

When you make arrangements for one of the entertainment packages, book and pay according to age.
When you are at the meal, let the server know your son's preference. It's never been an issue for us.

Is this an issue of picky eater or small appetite? This is up to your server, but you can ask to order the child's entree and pay the adult price. Your son will be given adult portions unless you specify that he wants the smaller portions, but the price will still be the same. Be aware that your server can deny the request.

As Geemo said, you will book and pay according to the age of the person, and that flips at 10 years old in the Disney universe.

However, if he won't eat anything on the adult menu, I have no doubt that you can talk with the waiter/waitress and they will find some compromise (like choosing off the kid menu with adult portions).

For the MSEP package at the Blue Bayou in April, we booked four adults. But my 12 YO ordered off the kids menu and we were only charged a child's price for him. However, no one believes he is actually 12 since he is small for his age, so maybe the cast member didn't realize he was that old, even though the reservation was for adults? We did not ask for any special consideration and would have paid the adult price if they had charged it. But there was no way he was eating an adult-sized meal either.

I will say I was surprised when we did the PTN Aladdin's Oasis "on the go" package last year. I asked when we picked ours up if my daughter could get the kids' meal (she wanted the mac and cheese) but pay the adult price. She's 16 so clearly not under 10. They sold her the kids' meal at the kids' price. But I wouldn't be surprised if they're more laid back with the "on the go" packages.

Interesting. Well, I decided to book River Belle F! based on previous package menus because there was an adult meal he was more likely to eat than BB. If they were willing to let us pay the kids price for the kids meal, I'd prefer BB as an adult, but there's no way I'm gonna pay $65 for even double the mac & cheese portions! :rotfl:
