My DS (8) and DD (5) are planning a Christmas party at home for some of their friends to attend. We plan on having "Christmas punch" and other christmas themed snacks and plan on doing a craft and playing a couple games.

Does anyone have any ideas on games to play? We plan on playing the "right, left" game for their gift (grab bag) exchange but other than that, I'm not sure what else to do.

Anyone have ideas?

Christmas Bingo.
Christmas word unscramble-you could have two different sets-one easier for the younger ones, and then a harder one.
Christmas scavenger hunt-you could have each theme find for various things on their list, and leave it as is or have them continue on and build something out of those items. The winning team, would get a small prize.

Pin the red nose on Rudolph
For crafts... I know Michaels has those tubs of the felt-like pieces to put together and decorate. Or have them make ornaments.
Match the Christmas character to its movie (example: Kevin McAllister -- Home Alone)

Spoon race with styrofoam "snowballs".

Rudolph relay race - Each child needs a red paper circle. Put a dab of vaseline on the circle & they put it on their nose & race down to put it in a container.

Musical chairs w/ Christmas music. Or a "walk" set to Christmas music. We usually do a "walk" because paper plates are easier to deal with than chairs. The kids don't seem to care what the prize is - we've even done just candy & they still enjoy the game.

Cut out small paper Christmas shapes - trees, candy canes, stars, etc. Shapes should be no larger than a half dollar. (could print them out on computer) Each child has a straw & sucks through it to pick up the shapes & put them in a container. Can time each child, or work in teams.

When our kids were younger, we often had a *Birthday Party for Jesus*.

It was a typical, fun party with games, crafts, activities.

But we also had a birthday cake for Jesus and kids sang happy birthday to Him!

Many told us both then and later, that it was often the only true CHRISTmas activity they were involved in.

And even though our kids are older now (teens) we still have a birthday cake for Jesus as dessert for Christmas Eve dinner.

Hope this helps!

Here are some super fun games! :flower:

Sock Guessing Game
You take a new pair of thick thermal socks. You know the gray ones that hunters use in the winter. Then you put objects, that you see or use around Christmas time, into the socks. Make sure you put the same things in each sock. Things like holly, scotch tape, ornament, pine cone, etc. Make sure you put about 20 to 25 different objects in. Tie a ribbon or rope around the opening to make sure nobody peeks. Give everyone a piece of paper and pass the socks around at your party and tell them how many objects there are in the sock and have them write down all they can feel. Two socks just makes the game go a little faster. The person that guesses the most objects is the winner.

Christmas Carol Chaos - Sounds Like Fun!
Type: Team game
Number: Any number really, teams do not need even numbers
Winner: Team that figures out all 5 of their christmas carols first
How to play: Divide group into teams. Each team sends one person up
to the GameMaster who gives them the name of a Xmas carol. Person returns to group and, in the manner of pictionary, tries to get the group to guess the name of the carol by DRAWING ONLY. As soon as the group knows the song, they must sing it as loud as they can. After singing, they send a new person for another song. Play continues until one group completes all five songs.

Hints: Make sure your group is well warmed up or they won't want to
sing. Also make the carols easy ones.
Items needed: Pen & Paper for each team. If your team is very large,
you may need a chalkboard, dry Erase board or big sheet of butcher paper on the wall so everyone can see.
