Children's Sock Sizing Help Please

It's been a while since I bought children's socks and I'm hoping that those of you who buy these on a regular basis might be able to help me figure out socks sizes without knowing a child's shoe size. The "sizing" tabs on store websites have not been helpful. This is for an Angel Tree Project. White socks for all would be easiest and probably most efficient for whomever is doing the laundry, but it would be nice to have gender-specific socks, possibly with some color, but must be easy to wash - no red, bright pink, etc. Have been looking more at athletic socks, not dressy or uniform socks. They need to last a good while and be soft/comfortable. We have cold, snowy winters, so crew or higher is best. I have a budget, but A LOT of socks to buy, so hoping to stay at/below $10 for at least 6 pr. in a package. Will watch for sales in the coming weeks, but need to buy before Thanksgiving.

My research, so far:
Girls: Children's Place has a 6 pack for $10 and the sizing for girls is (11-2 Youth) and (3-6 youth). Walmart has a 10 pack of Reebok socks for $10 in sizes S, M, & L.

Boys: Walmart has a 10 pack of Reebok socks for $10 in sizes (5-6.5), (7-8.5) & (9-11).

Need socks sizes for:

Girl Size 2/2T
Girl Size 3/3T
Girl Size 4/4T
Girl Size 5/5T
Girls Size 7/8
Girl Size 10
Girl Size 12
Girl Size 14

Boy Size 2/2T
Boy Size 3/3T
Boy Size 4/4T
Boy Size 5/5T
Boy Size 6
Boy Size 8
Boy Size 10

Perhaps for the boys, gray athletic socks would be easier for laundry than white socks?

I’m sorry, I cannot help with sizing questions, but don’t most sock companies have a chart that cross-references the sock size to the shoe size? But, I think it would be really hard to correlate shoe size to clothing size.

Good thought about gray and you are right, it is hard to figure out.

If anyone currently has a child, or someone they shop for in any of these sizes, what size clothing do they wear and what size socks do you buy for them and from where? Looking for suggestions of affordable socks that wear well. Thank you.
