Looking for information on children's programs at the Grand Floridian. I have heard that they have a cooking class for children and also a cruise. Does anyone know specifics(ages, price, etc) on these or other kid's programs at GF? Thanks!!

The Pirate Cruise is at GF for ages 4 and up I would say. My daughter loved it and really had fun. I believe it was $25.00 - $30.00 in that range, it's 2 hours long. The Grand Adventures in Cooking is the cooking one, which we plan to do this year. It sounds really neat too. I think that is at the Cont. though.

There's also the Wonderland Tea Party. I think the age range is the same as for the Pirate Cruise. Price is the same. Children spend an hour-long tea (apple juice) with Alice and the Mad Hatter. Last trip, my children did both and enjoyed the programs very much.

Hi - I got this info. from WDW website a few weeks ago because I was interested in programs for my 4 year old DD:

Pirate Cruise is $24.95/child and is a pirate treasure hunt. There are 2 CM's, one of whom is a lifeguard. The kids get pirate bandannas and wear life vests the whole time. It's from 10 am - noon Mondays and Thursdays. The kids get a PB&J lunch with snacks and a loot bag at the end.

The GF also offers the Wonderland Tea Party at 1:30, Monday - Friday for $24.95. It has an Alice in Wonderland theme with the characters from the story. The kids make cupcakes, have a story read to them, have lunch and then "tea" with the characters (juice?).

Hope this helps! :)

Grand Adventures in Cooking

(Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa)
Held Tuesdays and Fridays from 10 a.m. to noon, children are invited to create culinary delights with Chef Drew and his staff! The children start by decorating white aprons with their names, the date and their handprints (so you can remember how little their hands were way back when), and they get to personalize (aka, decorate) their own chef hat.

While these "works of art" are drying, a story is read to them. The books that are chosen are directly related to what they are cooking that day, (example: If they hear "The Hungry Caterpillar", they will create fruit kabobs). Most of the preparation is done in advance so that safety is not an issue (the children don't do cutting or anything along those lines) and hygiene is very important, the kids must wash their hands at least 4 times during their stay.

Some of their other creations may include strawberry shortcake, worms in dirt, cookies, mini pizzas, and Butterfinger Cheesecake. After sufficient sampling of these masterpieces, they load up carts and venture out into the resort to offer samples to guests or anyone else they see along the way! So if you are in the area, you might want to "hang out" around the Mouseketeer Club to take advantage of these tasty treats!

This event is open to children ages 3 to 10. The cost is $19.95 but this is subject to change. Call (407) WDW-DINE to book this or check with Guest Services at the resort. This can be booked 120 days in advance.

How popular are these programs? Do they really need to be booked 120 in advance? Is this the date to book all 3, or just the Grand Adventures in Cooking? I'm thinking about booking some of these programs for my nieces and cousins I'm taking to WDW next May with the rest of the girls in my bridal party, for a couple of kid free hours, as well as some time alone for the kids too, but since I've never needed them before I dont' know much about them. We're staying in a concierge suite so will they book these for us, or do I need to call myself since I was told they wouldn't contact us until about 60 days before our trip? Thanks!

Do you think the Adventures In Cooking might be to babyish for a 10 yr old? She saw this on the FoodNetwork show last night, but all the kids looked young? She did express interest in doing this.

My daughter will be 10 when we go in August and specifically requested to take the Cooking Adventure. She loves all of the GF Grand Adventures activities and will be taking the Pirate Cruise as well as the Alice...Teaparty. She has participated in these activities for the last three years [I have a small collection of the aprons the children make during the Cooking Adventure. :)
