How does the kids club work exactly? I read another thread on this but the thread was closed for questions. I guess what I am asking is...once I sign my kids up at the beginning, can they come and go as they wish or do I have to sign up for "slots" of time which they can attend. What are the hours of programing for the 2 clubs?

Your children can go at any time they wish during operational hours. Which are roughly 9:00 am to midnight, and sometimes 1:00 am... On the first day you are given a navigator as to what activities will be done at what times during the cruise. My kids now pick and choose what they want to do, but usually do more anyway. The only time they ask you not to sign them in is during transition, and this is when they are moving the children around from one activity to another. Ex. the may be at a movie from 2:00-3:00 pm. and they ask you to either sign them in after 2:15 or after 3:00 back where they will be when it is over.

The kids can go for supper with the kids club to the buffet if they wish. You are also issued a pager, and when they have had enough, you will be paged, with the exact location to pick them up..

Thanks for the information. I bought the Passporter (which is a wonderful book!) but I was not clear about how the kids club worked. It is hard to know in advance when your kids will want to go. Do they fill up quickly? Is there a point when they say that no more kids can come in?

i think they book the cruise according to how many kids the clubs can accomodate. so once you're booked on a cruise, you're pretty much set for your children to have a "spot" in the clubs...whether your children go the the clubs or not. i think that's how it works, unless i'm wrong, cuz i read somewhere on the boards, that they didn't understand why a cruise on a certain date was available for 2 adults, but not for family of 4, and that was the explanation. :flower:

The kids clubs do have a maximum occupancy level just like any other public space but DCL has YEARS of experience and lots of statistics to work with. If you work with large numbers of folks, (and 700 - 1000 kids each cruise qualifies) then you can use averages to plan with. They won't know which kids but they'll have a pretty good idea of how many to expect at any given time.

I've only heard of one instance in the past year when the club was full and they didn't allow other kids in. I believe that was for a short time around 10pm when the Magic was overnighting in San Juan, Puerto Rico (not a normal occurance) and lots of parents wanted to try the night life on shore.

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised at how easy it is to use the clubs. No reservations, calling ahead, deciding how much you can afford, hoping the baby sitter will show up and all that mess. Besides, your kids will love it and you can go visit any time.

Have a great time.

Kids clubs are great! I was impressed by the security of it all and the kids had a great time. The last night when I went to pick up my very shy 8yo dd, she told me to come back in 30 minutes!! If you knew her that says alot!!

Thanks to everyone for shedding some light on that for me! I am psyched! My kids are very social and I know that they will love the kids club! I love the idea that I can have some "mom" time on vacation!
