I haven't seen much info about the Pirate's Cruise for kids. This is a two hour excursion in which they look for treasure. Does anyone have any feedback good or bad? Also, I'm not sure which days it's held. I think Monday and Thursday but I'm not sure. Thanks!

Capt. Coconut,

Firstly, GO YANKEES!!!

Secondly, my DS5 & DD8 did the cruise this past April. They had alot of fun. Went on a treasure hunt, got candy, peanut butter & Jelly sandwiches.

The 2 hours wasn't long enough for my wife & I, but we made do!

I have to disagree. We were so excited to have our kids go on a pirate ship. We were expecting Disney's elaborate detail and imagineering. I guess we were expecting a pirate ship, you know, a Spanish galleon. When we got there and found a pontoon boat with some brown nets and a couple of cm's in street clothes with bandanas on their heads, we were very disappointed. It felt like a glorified babysitting service. Now, we live on the water and ride sea-do's and pontoon boats all the time. Maybe for someone who doesn't have watersports at home- this would be great.
Of course the kids had fun, we were just didn't see the value in the price and the morning lost (when we could have been in the parks)

DD did this when she was 10 and had a blast! She still talks about this & was hoping for a return trip before she got too old. (didn't happen :( )

The last I heard they had expanded their schedule to Monday, Wednesday & Thursday. DH& I went to 1900 Park Fare for the character breakfast on a whim after we waved off the pirates. ;)

My only regret is that they didn't provide a photographer to go on the cruise with the kids! I wish I could have seen them (or at least pix) searching & digging for treasures!

They provided sack lunches (PBJ, Rice Krispy Treat, Gummy Bears, juice box) and a wonderful time!

Mickeydad, well, I'm really a Met fan so I don't know who to root for, but it's been one heck of a series.

Thanks for the help. I think the kids will love it. I'm just not sure if we can make it Thursday morning. I'll check with the CM when I get there to see if the schedule has been expanded.

I forgot to mention that they take ressies for this 120 days out. There have been times when they've sold out shortly after that.

Someone on this board had pictures of their children on the pirate cruise maybe someone can provide a link. I have my twins booked for the 27th of this month and I'm sure they'll have a great time. They take them to discovery island (I think) and to the beach at the Contemporary (once again, I think) and they dig for buried treasure and they have lunch and they bring them back to the GF around noon.

With all that said, GO RED SOX :teeth: (sorry just had to do that!)

You really have to make reservations early. They sell out fast.

I agree the boats could have been more gussied up, but the kids dont care. They get Micket Mouse Pirate hats, which they get to keep. And everyone gets a share of the loot which is plastic jewels, rubber eyeballs, plastic insects and a kaleidescope.

My kids enjoyed it but not enough for me to do it the next time. THey still play with the treasure though.

I second the last poster. This sells out really fast. Last year I tried to book it for my DS at 120 days and had no luck. This year we were lucky enough to be staying concierage so they were able to book it for us. My DS is really looking forward to it.

My son really loved this too. He went last June & had a really nice time. I agree though, that I wish the boat was a little more made up like a pirate boat...I think it would be cool if "Peter Pan" was on the boat too ::yes::

But really my son did not mind, he had a great time & we are hoping to get in again this coming June.

If we sent the kids on the Pirate Cruise would the adults have time to go over to the Poly for breakfast? If so, can you take the monorail directly there.

I always grab a bite to eat at Gasparilla Grill and dine outside. It's so pretty there at the GF. As to the Poly, you may take the monorail there (the first stop is the MK, the next stop is the Contemp, and the stop after that is the Poly). If you have a quick breakfast, you should be able to squeeze it in.
