Is it allowed to order off the children's menu, as an adult, for yourself? Several reasons why; #1, I don't eat as much as I used to for health reason; #2, save room for dessert; #3, and most importantly, to save a few sawbucks. At my age the children's meal is ample, and gives me room for dessert. I know the children's selections are limited, but sometimes what I want. Most times when I eat an adult meal I'm so full I pass on the desserts. What say others?

At counter service locations, no problem. At table service, some will let you, other will not. If there are 2 with you, you can share a meal, then you will have room for dessert.

I have definitely ordered from the children's menu at quick service locations. Many times just not hungry when hubby is hungry. He can have breakfast at 10 and still be ready for lunch at noon :guilty:

You can always just order one or two appetizers or an appetizer and salad, soup. You do not need to order an entree. Sometimes I prefer two or three different appetizers if I can't make up mind or don't see anything I am crazy about.

We have also gone to a TS restaurant for dessert and a dessert drink (usually late in the evening).

I have never ordered specifically from a child's menu at a Table Service restaurant.

I've done it many times at QS, but I haven"t heard from any adult who's succesfully done it at TS. Often I stick to an appetizer or two. What about a Small Plate at Spice Road Table? Would that be a possibility? I know that's only one restaurant, though.

I really wish more restaurants (in and outside of Disney) would offer half portions. Portions today are so large and many have too much carbs, sodium, fat, etc. Since I follow Weight Watchers, a half portion works. I really don't want to bring home the leftovers from a full portion but also feel like I am wasting food & money if I don't. A half portion means I can order a side salad and sometimes even a small dessert. I was able to do this at a Bria Italian restaurant near me and loved it.

For so many people they say "Share your meal-order just one meal for two people", but for those of us who travel solo, that's not an option. Unfortunately I find myself too often buying a meal and throwing away half of it because I'm full. Waste of food and money!

Sharing also doesn't work if the person you are traveling with either wants something different or wants a full meal. I know some places allow an adult to order off the children's menu but those aren't the kinds of food choices I want to make! I have just ordered an appetizer or two but if what I really wanted was an entree but just too much food, it would be nice to have the half portion option.

Our older dd is picky, and 21. So over the years, we've asked if we can order the kids' meal, but offered to pay whatever full price would be. I know some restaurants will cater to picky eaters, but make a larger portion of that food, and charge more. It's been a few years, but the restaurants have been really accomodating.

Via Napoli will not allow this. Recent report of a teen (not even an adult) being denied

the best you can do is ask.
you can also skip or omit sides. Extra green veg instead of carbs is common

most days I would rather a great app rather than an entree. And I rarely want restaurant desserts. they are rarely worth it, unless signature dining. I would rather get an ice cream later or something yummy from a bakery

I have ordered appetizers for my meal at table service restaurant when I am not feeling very hungry--never had a problem not ordering an entree (unless of course you are at a prix fixe meal where you have to have all three courses).

It’s not a problem at quick service and Disney owned and operated sit downs. At non-Disney owned and operated table service is where you may run into problems. Via Napoli is frequently mentioned as a location that enforces the age limit. I’m just mindful of the waiter at sit downs and tip a bit extra when I order a kids entree and nothing else.

I have ordered off the children's menu at almost all restaurants TS and QS. never had an issue. I find Disney incredibly accommodating.

Thanks so much, DizMagic. I've never even tried to order a children's meal at TS since I didn't know any other adult who'd been successful at it. So glad to hear someone has. Now I'll try it next time (but not at Via Napoli)
