Childrens Menu age enforcement

I was just hoping to get some feedback on how strictly they enforce the age of 9yrs old for the kids menu at places like the Flying Fish, Blue Zoo or other signature type restaurants? I ask as i am taking my 13yr old daughter down this summer and was thinking of trying one of these higher end restaurants but when i look at the menu there is basically nothing she would eat on the adult menu (she wont touch seafood unless its fish and chips and does not like steak). So would they refuse to let her order off the kids menu? I cant see how that would make sense as if that were the case they would then either have a table where only one person was eating as i would not spend money to buy her something i know she would not even try or they would lose the sale if we ended up leaving over it.

Not sure what to do as previous trips when she was say 10 or 11 there was never any issue but now with her getting a bit older I am wondering how it will be. Alot of times now she eats from the adult menu but it is only when it has stuff like pasta, burgers, chicken nuggets or the like on it. She would eat a salad but i did not see a basic one of those at least at Blue Zoo when i looked at their menu.

Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

Just as long as you are not on the dining plan, you can order what you want. My kids always split an adult meal when they were young. They are used to kids of all ages ordering from the kid's menu. I doubt that you will have any issues.

You should have no problem ordering from the kid's menu. Just so you know restaurants have sometimes given an adult portion of a child's menu item and charge accordingly.

They most likely will not care or ask her age. Even if you are on the dining plan it won’t matter because it’s not like they’ll know she has an adult dining plan until after your meal is finished and you’re paying. My oldest kids have been “adults” on the dining plan for several years now, and sometimes they want to order off the kids menu. No one has ever batted an eye. It’s a terrible use of an adult dining credit, but at least they're fed and happy.

Most will likely accommodate you even if they charge more for an adult portion of the children's meal. Have you thought about having her order from the appetizer/soup/salad/side dishes part of the menus? Sometimes you can cobble together a nice meal out of those.
I had that exact thought but she is so stinkin picky about not eating seafood and all the appetizers seemed to have seafood (at least at FF). I guess i could do what i did with her the last time we went to Yak and Yeti and let her just have dessert, lol. thanks for the info though.

FF, she could try any of these 4 apps, all without fish:)...
Slow-roasted Pork Belly
Gala Apple, Cherry Gastrique
$14.00
Wisconsin Burrata
Pear, Marcona Almonds, Blueberry-White Balsamic Vinaigrette
$14.00
Tasting of Artisan Cheeses
Brebicet, Crottin, Thomasville tomme, Smokey Blue Reypenaer V.S.O.P., Gouda
$16.00
Plant-based
Grilled Baby Romaine
Olive Oil-marinated Vegetables, Sea Salt and Black Pepper
$13.00

And all of the apps are price competitive with the kid meal...and probably about equivalent food volume b/c most kid meals are tiny at signature TS...

Bluezoo says specifically 3-12 for its kids menu...but it also has adult apps that may appeal to your daughter and would be price competitive to the kid meal...so, you wouldn't have to worry...

“Olive’s” classico flatbread

Adults in our group routinely order off of the children’s menu when paying OOP without a problem, so your girl will be fine! The Disney-owned restaurants are *almost* guaranteed to never give anyone a hard time about ordering off the kids menu. She might not get the accompaniments, though, like the drinks and the dessert.
