I woke up with a jolt this morning.

What documents does my dd need to board an airplane? I totally forget.

I have her social security card, this is horrible but I'm not sure where her birth certificate is (hangs head in shame). And no she doesn't have any kind of picture ID.

My kids are 12 and 6 and they didn't need any kind of identification.

My oldest is 4 and has flown a handful of times. We've never been asked for any sort of identification or papers.

If your DD is under 2 and will be traveling as a lap child, you'll need her birth certificate.

My children (5 and 3) have flown dozens of times and we have never once been asked to provide any sort of identification.

A little unnerving, now that I think about it.

We travel in 10 days and I was freaking over the same thing yesterday. I called my sis and she said they don't ask. I'm thinking about calling the airline just to double check. I just hate to be stuck in phone jail for 60 minutes.

When you show your boarding pass at security they will simply ask your children to state their name which they check against the name on the boarding pass or they will say your childs name and they look to see which child looks up. My girls are 12 and 15 and have never carried ID's.

DS 4 has flown numerous times and they never ask for anything. His thrill is taking off his shoes and walking through the metal detector on his own...

under 18 no id required, but you should still have an identification card with a current picture of your child...

I have ID's made for them through theirr schools, but they really don't even look at them when we board. You don't need anything. I find that they ask my kids what their names are...that is it.

Under 16 does not need ID. My DNephew(14) and DS(4) were asked their first names and how old they were, but that is it!

I'm taking DGS with me and other than a note from his mom or my DS I will have nothing for ID. Last time we had court papers that said he was allowed to travel with us (custody issue) but was never asked for anything.

My children are now 9 & 6. They've never had to show ID whenever we fly. However, I never changed my name from my maiden name so my name on my documents is different than their name. As such, I always carry a copy of their birth certificates. I also give them one of their school IDs to carry ... figure it gives them "practice" of sorts for this kind of thing even though they don't really need it.

Completely OT, JCC0621 are you really a deputy sheriff and if so where? DH is a Philadelphia Deputy Sheriff.

the only time youll need a proof of age is if your child is sitting on your lap. other than that they dont need anything till the age of 18.

Even though you don't need it, I still take my kids Birth Certificates. I feel like its a safety thing and like my photo I.D. they too should have some form of I.D.

No, I am a Probation Officer in Philly though. :thumbsup2

I took the test for probation officer but retired on a non service related disability. They won't hire me for anything. I would have liked to have been able to do it. DH thinks I'm crazy.

My DD just turned 7 years old and flies numerous times per year. She's never been asked for ID, but the security screener usually asks her what her name is. Tomake it more fun for my daughter, we let her carry her Kid Check Indent-a-card. She loves handing over her boarding pass & ID just like all the adults in line.
:)

Thanks for all the responses. My Mom is on the hunt for my dd's bc. We think it's in her lock box. I do have my dd's SS card, and my dd4 does know her full name. Her last name is different then mine, but still she knows it.

All these posts made me feel a LOT better!

There seems to be different answers from everyone! I iwll have to call the airline to see if I need to bring anything for my 13 month old.
