Children's Footwear Attire

We are leaving on the 3 night cruise tomorrow and I realized I didn't have my DS8 try on his dress shoes in the past month. You can already guess that of course they were too small. Do most children have on dress shoes?
Will he look out of place wearing his new sneakers or sandals with his khaki pants and polo shirts at dinner? Otherwise, I'm off to the mall this evening to buy him a new pair.

I just took my two dd's shopping for dress shoes then realized that they DON'T need them. Both of my girls are going to wear pretty flip flops with their formal dresses. IMHO it doesn't matter what kind of shoes a child wears as long as they are comfortable. I told my 11 year old that as long as they didn't show in the picture I didn't care if she wore flip flops. AGAIN, IMHO, if people are worried about what type of shoes your child has on, they are not paying enough attention to their vacation. Let them where what they are comfortable in.

I think what you are asking would be just fine. But yet that is my opinion and you will get many of those here

My DS wore hiking type boots for most of the nights at dinner, but on the last night he wore his tennie shoes. He was fine. DD wore nice sandels everynight.

3 night cruises are much less formal in the dress code. My DS 15 wore his sneakers with khakis and a golf shirt to dinner every night and was fine. No last minute trips to the mall needed.

Thank you for your responses. I feel much better now. He'll be happy that he doesn't have to get dragged to the mall tonight! (By the way, NYGiantsRule, he is a major Giants fan. His grandfather has had 10 season tickets for over 40 years.)

The only night my sons wore dress shoes was on Formal night. All the other nights they wore their sandals with their pants. It was hard enough to get them into long pants - I was not going to sweat the small stuff.
