Is anyone else having problems finding food at counter service that kids will eat, my Daughter will not eat Mac & Cheese or Peanut and Jelly sandwiches and these appear on almost every menu.
She has never eaten a burger or a hot dog in her life and will not eat them.

at AK, Pizzafari does not even have pizza on the kids menu and flame tree house has chicken wings which I assume have bones in so don't want her having them,(what is wrong with just grilled chicken) and what is with sugar free Jello!! yuck!

epcot seems to have lots of excellent choices for kids so why not the other parks.

Also the TS kids desserts seem very dull compared to the adults, I will be paying OOP for an adult dessert for DD.

you have to remember that if you paid for a kids ddp its $11.00 for all day, take off $4 for the snack(thats the value you can buy too)thats $7 for 2 kids meals.Flame tree also has hot dogs for little ones.Chippy in epcot they get fish and chips a decent portion as well.
There are some places which have good childs meal but you will have to search for them.Check out the dinning pages off this site and check the menues at www.allearsnet.com.as you be eating plenty of food on ddp try sharing your dessert, honest sometimes you will be too full to eat it

Quite a few CS places have chicken strips or chicken nuggets on the kids menus.

In MGM the ABC Commissary does fried fish and vegetable noodle stir fry for kids. The Backlot Express does chilled chicken with vegetables.

In MK Cosmic Rays does chicken noodle soup, chicken garden salad and chicken nuggets for kids.
Peco Bills does a chilled salad with carrots and celery - as well as the 'toppings bar' for salad, onions etc.

You could also ask to split an adult meal or dessert between you and DD.

or as a last resort persuade her to try burgers and hotdogs :)

after a few days we used to bring back our deserts for sil as we were always full

We found it a struggle with DD last trip. Look forward to hearing any good places to eat when you discover them :goodvibes

They definitely seem to be working to appeal to struggling young families now, with the low-low prices and the low-cost offerings to match. If money isn't a concern, don't limit her to the child menus.

We just got back and Pizzafari had PIZZA! I couldnt beleive it because of what I had read. DS4 live on pizza and chicken nuggets practically the whole time, a couple places allowed you to put chicken on the pizza but he didnt liek that idea.

Good luck.

We found CS meals a problem on all 3 of our trips as DD doesn't eat chips (well only specific chips i.e TGIs or Tony Romas). On our second trip we found 2 restaurants that we used over and over where we could buy tuna bagettes at one and pizza at the other. On our 3rd trip the menus had been changed and once again there was nothing she'd eat at lunch time - she survived on popcorn and ice-cream until our evening meal.

With regards to the hamburger and hot dogs has she ever tried one or is it a case of you have never let her try one? I know of some kids who would not eat something, even though they had never eatten it efore, but once they did they actually enjoyed it! I agree hot dog or humburger every day is excessive but once in a while is ok.

she has never tried a burger, it not something she chooses to have if we eat out, she would ask to order chicken with veg instead, she will refuse one if it is offered to her. with regards to hot dogs it depends on the sausage, she does not like the hot dog type sausages however will eat normal sausages.

The only thing that she is not allowed is fizzy drinks, we do restrict her intake of chips, nuggets etc though she is allowed them once in a while.

Chicken nuggets will be fine for a few days, grilled chicken, fish will be fine as long as she is not having the same thing everyday.

I was looking at the menus with her and she likes the sound of some of the adult sandwiches like tuna, grilled chicken, so I may spilt one with her if we get really stuck.

I have also booked lots of TS meals for us and they have good options for her so will maybe have bigger breakfasts some days and fruit for lunch.

Bigger breakfasts are a good idea as eatting midday in the heat can be a bit much at times. I take it CS can be breakfast or luch? Hotdogs in the US are made from beef so not exactly like our hot dogs over here!

As you are at POR the breakfast menu looks quite good in the food court -

Kids' Picks
For ages 9 and under

French Toast OR Pancakes with bacon, sausage and applesauce

Kids' Waffle Plate -- scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and applesauce

Child Breakfast Platter -- scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and applesauce

Mind you they do like apple sauce!

Also just noticed this comment about DDP -

(Note that children age 3-9 must choose from a children's menu, if one is available.)

So if you go to a CS without a kid's menu I guess they can order anything off the menu same as an adult :confused3

Claire ;)

Catalina Eddie's at MGM has no Kid's meals mentioned and serves pizzas

Also for fruit a snack credit may work at the Harambe Fruit Market in Animal Kingdom

Just noticed another meal for MK -

Chilled Chicken with Carrots and Celery at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn and Cafe.

HTH

From the Dining Plan FAQ for this forum:
I understand that where there is no child menu, children can order off the regular menu. Which CS locations do not have a separate child menu?
  • Catalina Eddie
  • Taluca Turkey Legs
  • Cool Wash Pizza
  • Casey's
  • Pete's Doggone Good dogs
  • Pizza Planet
  • Sommerfest
  • Yorkshire County Fish Shop

Thank you, some good ideas, :)

Yes Disney does seem to like the Apple sauce, it is starting to appear everywhere at DLRP now too.
