Wow! This time next week we'll be on an airplane!!!

I'm beginning my packing, and I got to wondering about clothing for the kids. I know that they need "special" outfits for formal night and semi-formal nights. But, what is the appropriate attire for a 7, 4, 2 and 1 year old on the remaining 4 nights? Should the girls wear dresses every night? Or would capris or skirts be okay? Can my son wear khaki shorts, or does he need a clean pair of long pants for each meal? Does he need a tie on the nights besides the formal and semi-formal nights? Will he be okay without a tux on formal night?

Thanks in advance for your help.

DCL has softened their stance on children's clothing at dinner:

Are children expected to follow the same dress code as adults?
Each parent or guardian would be the best judge of what attire is appropriate for our youngest cruisers. Guests who are age 13 or older would probably be most comfortable wearing attire similar to what is recommended above for all the ship's passengers.

With kids as young as yours I think you'd be fine dressing them in clean, comfortable clothing and not worrying too much about it.

Have a great time! :)

My kids were almost the exact same age last time we cruised (8,4,2,1) ! We had a BLAST!!!!!!! I took two pair of nice pants for my son (8) and several collared shirts (golf type). He did NOT wear a tie or suit and was fine. The girls wore sundresses and capris and were fine. On formal night they all wore Disney costumes and it was soooo cute. We have a great picture of them all with Belle. She actually sat on the floor because the 2 &1 year olds were "nervous" and they all sat on her dress in front of her (my son knelt next to her). It's adorable. My son even went as Captain Hook.

To be honest, as busy as we were at dinner (you know.......) we NEVER noticed what anyone else wore -- ever!

Have a great time! BTW - they even let my 2 & 1 year old (actually 18mo.) do a pillowcase when they did these in the clubs, we just had to be there with them! Also ask about your 2 year old being in the show - they let mine and several others as long as I stayed with her - they go on stage but the parents of the little ones sit in the reserved front row of the theatre. She got a shirt then and they were nice enough to give me an extra so all my kids had one!

We took Matt a pair of khaki and a pair of dark blue pants. He would out them on right before dinner and then change immediately after dinner. I did take a black suit and bow tie for formal night but that was mainly because I wanted a picture of us all dressed up. I also used the picutre to make our Xmas cards.

If you are talking about the seven day...

In the dining rooms on the other nights for dinner, long pants (not jeans) and a collared or dressy t-style shirt, or casual dress or capris for the older kids. The younger two would be fine in cute short sets. (I LOVE kids in those matching short sets. I just can't understand why my 16 DS won't wear them anymore ;) )

If you are on the three or four day, pretty much anything goes for the older two, except shorts and jeans.
