I tried searching this topic, but nothing came up.....what happens if you have a child who won't/can't wear the magic bands? Parent wears it?

From what I've read, you'll have the option to use a card instead of the Magic Band if you don't want to have to wear a bracelet.

Sent from my iPhone using DISBoards

Or just attach it to a bag, beltloop, put it in a bag...nothing says it has to be worn on your wrist : )

You are not required to wear them you can keep them in you bag or put it on a lanyard or something else. They just make them go on your wrist because they thought hat would be easy. Once they get it up and running I wouldn't be surprised if they make a key chain version and other ones.

thanks! A keychain version would be great

My DD has eczema and can not wear watches or items like that because it irritates her skin. I think it from her sweating under them and the rubbing. I was curious how this would work for people like her so it's good to see other people asking about it. I was hoping that we could just attach it to her belt loop or something, but if she had a card that would be great.

Just be aware that if you get a card you may not get all the Magic+ stuff they have hinted at like personalized ride experiences.

Those experiences are triggered by a transmitter in the band. The card will probably not have this. BTW this transmitter is not the RFID chip that they are using now but a separate function of the band that uses a battery so hard to put in a card.

But as stated above, these bands are not bolted to your wrist like a hospital bracelet. :thumbsup2

But Disney should look into a lanyard FOB. With all the lanyards people use. Just put it on on of those retractable string things.

I'm not a child, I don't have skin issues, or any reason. I just hate having anything on my wrists. I don't wear a watch. I have dozens of bracelets that I try to wear and usually end up taking off mid-day.

I can't wait to see what options Disney will offer, even if they are an additional cost. Until then, I'll use my RFID AP.

I am glad to hear of other options - I push a manual wheelchair so having a clunky thing on my wrist would be really annoying (and could even hurt if it got stuck in the spokes). But I will just attach it with a carabiner to my belt loop, like I do my keys. That way I can show it to them easily but not have a really annoying thing on my arm.

Also, are they all one size, are there children's sizes, etc? I have tiny arms (as do many others) and having something that can slip off would stink - I imagine them flying above people's heads in Tower of Terror!

When I was there a few weeks ago, I was in line with some folks who were part of the on-going test. The parents were carrying the bands for the 2 kids in their pocket as the kids wouldn't keep them on (kept taking them off). So I'm sure it would be fine to just carry them around, although I probably wouldn't plan on putting them in a bag as you need access to them to hold up to the readers for FP entry, etc.

Maybe get an extender if you are going to do that. Remember you will have to hold the bracelet up against readers for various things; it's not just something you flash to a CM.

I saw on a different site that the bands they are using now are " two in one". The band comes in an adult size and if you need the smaller child size you peel off a section and it becomes the child size.
Thanks for the note about pushing your chair. My DS is getting better at pushing himself and often wants us to not push him. I did not think about it being an issue for him, but I can see how.

They are like watch band so you can make them tight or loose plus they have a part that pulls out for kids but once you pull it you can't put it back so it. So just make sure you pull the right one for your kid and not yours or your have a little one.
