I'd like my 3 year old to join us for dinner most nights, but also don't want her to miss some of the evening activities at the kid's club. Would it be rude to our dinner companions for me to leave briefly to take her to the club? Thanks for your help...:)

we had a table for 4 so we didn't have the companion issue to worry about but dh did take the kids to the clubs 2 or 3 nights and it is pretty common. You can ask your servers to bring their entrees with your appetizers and then they can hold the entrees a few minutes while one of you runs up. I assume you have early dinner? I think the club allows sign-in at 6:30 (earlier is a transition time as they move the kids) so anytime after that should work.

I would ask if you have others at the table because they may not want to wait those minutes for the entrees.

If I were your tablemate I wouldn't find it rude at all. I would much rather wait an extra five minutes for my entree than have a three year old who wasn't happy because they felt they were missing something at my table.

I would probably also let the server know to bring all of the entrees when everyone was ready and just leave mine covered until I got back out of courtesy to my tablemates.

Hope you enjoy your cruise :)

We do this. Dd usually has something pressing to do at the Lab, so we let our server know that we'd like her entree as soon as possible. She then eats and finishes about the time we're finishing appetizers and I run her up to the Lab. This last time I came back and everyone had their entrees and were just beginning to eat.....mine was there and still covered!! I thought that was very thoughtful of our server!

We did it too...our tablemates had a DD10 and my DD was 8 1/2 on our cruise. They'd hurry to eat and then one of the grownups would take them to the club. We would then hang out with our new friends until the servers were about ready to kick us out of the dining room! It was great bc everyone got to have their own kind of fun.

Thanks everyone for your quick replies!! I was hoping it would be ok...I definatly would not want to hold up other people's mealsand would not mind if mine were covered and waiting when I returned!! Now I have one less thing to worry about!

No worry. I think it's really wonderful that the kiddos have so many great things to do! I would be very surprised if other folks had a problem with this.

I don't think it would be rude at all.

It's a vacation for everybody! If there was an activity for the adults and you had to leave early, I don't think that would be rude either.

I remember we sat with a woman with two teenaged daughters who had to leave early to go to the Junkanoo Jam. I thought is was wonderful that they ate with their mom first.
