My daughter is allergic to egg, milk, cheese. At WDW the chefs and restaraunts were amazing in accomadating us. Head chef actually came to our table and went over the entire menu, and offered to make speacial things.

I am wondering if DCL is able to do the same? Anyone have experience with this?

Thx

You won't have any problems. My daughter has a peanut allergy and they accomodated us without any problems. Also, we told them our son had a lactose intolerance and not only did they go get lactose-free milk for him (we told them juice would be fine, but they wanted us to not have to compromise), but they had a quart of lactose-free milk delivered to our suite everyday.

We don't have allergies, but I have read many threads from people who do. Every single one had nothing but HIGH PRAISE for the way it was handled. :rotfl:
You can have your Dr fill out a medical form and send it to DCL to help make sure it is properly handled. If your waiter doesnt mention it on the first meal, :confused3 remind them, because sometimes things can slip through the cracks. Once they know for sure, they will be extremely accommadating. :Pinkbounc Our GD and GS will be traveling in December and they have allergies, but we know that DCL will meet all their needs. Have a Magical cruise! :earboy2:

Be sure to fill out the paperwork ahead of time. DCL will prepare accordingly. Rememer you are in the middle of the ocean and they can't just run out to the store.

My niece had some problems with milk so my sister had begun giving her Soy milk. My sister didn't even think about this on vacation and after a couple of days of drinking regular milk, my niece started to get sick. My sister realized what had happened and asked on board if they had soy milk. They didn't have any, they did have lactose free milk, which we used and it worked. They indicated that if they had known, they would have had soy milk. So do let them know.

The staff is great. This is where you see the head waiter in action. The head waiter is the one who tends to watch out for food allergies for their section. My dad is allergic to Fowl (Chicken, Turkey etc.) This is a tough one becaue chicken broth is used in a lot of cooking. Our servers knew about it ahead of time (because he had sent the forms in) and the head waiter was there the first night to talk to him about it. Every night either our server or the head waiter went over the menu with him personally telling him what contained ingredients that he was allergic to.

We are on the 7/30 Mexican Rivera cruise and my soon to be one year old son is allergic to Soy, Milk and Wheat. I did fill out a medical form to let the ship know. He can only drink Rice Milk, I read on the boards that they can supply rice milk so I'm not sure if I'll need to bring it, I will give them a call.

I will be happy to give you the report when we get back. Thank god my son loves fruit and veggies because that is primarily what he eats.

stars,

The table beside us had a child with a gluten and lactose sensitivity and they accomodated him fine. I know that they did give him rice milk, so it's on board. Have a great trip and you should have nothing to worry about.

My family and I are leaving tomorrow for our first Disney cruise. ( :Pinkbounc ) Both my DDs have food allergies -- DD6 is allergic to peanuts, DD3 is allergic to tree nuts. I have been assured by many people on this board (and DCL as well) that they can accommodate food allergies. We are DVC members and have had many many many incident-free trips to WDW and I'm banking on the fact the DCL handles it the same cautious and conscientious way as WDW.

I'll be happy to post how it was handled when I return.

My DS has severe allergies to dairy and egg. Does anyone know if the room service can change their offerings for him? Can't do pizza or many other items, but WDW is always so good about it. THanks!

My son is 10 and is still allergic to dairy, peanuts and eggs! We have been on two Disney cruises and are about to go again. I always get the medical form filled out by his pediatrician, especially since we carrry Atarax and an EpiPen. Disney is GREAT!!! They always accommodate him and have even gone to different kitchens to get jello and watermelon so he could have a dessert. The first cruise we took, the server walked up to our table and asked "Which one has the food allergies." I was so shocked that he already knew. Then, the our head server told us he had soy cheese and margarine in his PERSONAL refrigerator in his cabin for Devin. He brought the margarine out every evening and put it on our table and kept asking if Devin wanted a grilled cheese sandwhich. You can't get much better service than that.

DH has celiac disease, and requires a wheat free /gluten free diet. DCL was every bit as accommodating as WDW was - DH was so impressed! Our head waiter was a bit arrogant, but when it came to DH's meals, he was great - each night he would take DH's breakfast requests - they make up everything in separate cookware, so even the cookware has not been exposed to wheat or gluten. And each evening he would review the menu with DH, pointing out what he could or could not eat. Our TA made the initial dietary request, and then once we boarded I went to the dining area to find our head waiter, to speak with him. We were not aware of the medical form, but that would be an excellent idea also. :goodvibes

My daughter is also allergc to dairy and peanuts. I was wondering if I could check ahead what they would be able to offer her since she is so picky.

Sirena,
If you go to DCL's official web site and click onthe contact us icon at the bottom of the page.I think it's at the bottom of the FAQ page. Send an e-mail and ask. I usually get an answer within 2 weeks when I write and ask. Hopefully they will be able to help you.
Remember to have your Doctorfill out the medical form and send it ahead of time, that will make it so much easier for everyone. I'm sure they will have something she will like, they have such a huge variety of foods for all types of special diets.

Do fill out the medical forms ahead of time. As mentioned above, they can't just run out to the store.

My niece is not really allergic to dairy, but has problems with drinking milk, so she drinks soy milk at home. Because it wasn't really an allergy, my sister did not fill out the medical forms in advance. My niece started to not feel well after two days on board when my sister realized that she had been drinking regular milk. She asked about soy milk and on that cruise there was none. They indicated that if they had known in advance they would have been happy to supply it, but no one on that cruise required it, so they didn't have any on board.

They did have lactose free milk, which we switched my niece to and she was fine after that. Just because you read on here that they had such and such on board for someone else's cruise, doesn't mean they will have it for yours unless you tell them in advance you need it.
