Child Ticket question

Can anyone help with this one?

I notice that with both hopper passes and the universal Flex tickets the child price age group is up to 10 years old.

Now here's the dilemma!

One of my boys turns 10 years old five days into our trip next February. I was hoping to pre-order the tickets prior to going but don't know whether to order adult tickets for my now 9 year old or if a child ticket would suffice.

He is very small for his age so i'm sure no questions would be asked, but do you need to prove age when using the child tickets or could I get away with using one for him throughout our stay?

I'm probably just being stingey  but then every penny counts

I would think that since he will be 9 on the first day of your trip that a 9 year old child's ticket would be okay. I understand where you are coming from my DD has turned 10 and I hate having to buy an adult ticket for her.

I believe it is Disney policy to upgrade free any child ticket to an equivalent adult ticket if the 10th birthday is during your vacation - i'm sure someone will be along to confirm this . I don't know about Universal but would bet the policy is similar.

I asked this when booking our flights etc

I was told that if a child has a birthday over there taking them into the adult bracket in respect of air fares then they are charged at the mean price of both child and adult fares.

With regard to park tickets I was told that the child is considered to be the same age as they were when the tickets are first used.
This seems to be re-affirmed by the WDW policy in respect of unused hoppers - ie. if you return to WDW on a later holiday with a partially used child hopper and that child is now of adult ticket age then they will exchange the unused portion for the equivalent adult hopper at no extra charge.;)

I asked when I was on phone to WDW.
My daughter is 9 just now and will be 9 when I buy the tickets however she will be 10 when we arrive in Florida.

The phone operator I spoke to said its the age when the tickets are bought that matters. I'm not going to worry that she'll have a child ticket and be 10 yrs old. .............the operator also said that Disney have a policy never to embarass a guest so no-one will ask her age.

Hope this helps.
