Child Swap/Fast Pass...Will this work?

This might be a dumb question but here goes...

If my best friend and I go get 2 fast passes for Space Mountian...we send our husbands to get fast passes somewhere else then use the child swap thing at each ride, would we avoid the Fast Pass limit? Don't they only let you get one fast pass at a time? Does this even sound logical?

The 2 husbands tell the ticket guy "We are doing the child swap" then use their 2 fast passes while we wait outside. We do the child swap thing...then head to the next ride. The two moms wait in the fast pass line...tell the guy that we are doing child swap...then husbands ride.

To my knowledge each person has to have a fastpass to even get in the fastpass line. They then take your ticket up. So if you're asking can you only get two fastpasses for you, your dh, friend and her dh to ride as a child swap I don't think it will work. And yes, until your fastpass beginning time has passed you are not able to get another one.

In theory but the execution may be more difficult than it seems FWIW, there is a similar thread on the families board right now.

The sticky points will be the walking to get the FP especially with the baby/toddler and then getting back in time for both ride windows. Thinking about Epcot where you would want to ride say Soarin and TT which are on opposite sides of FW.

In addition to get the riderswap pass the child/baby who dosen't meet the restriction must be present so the entire family has to be present when the first parent rides. To quote you you can't just tell the CM that you want to child swap without the "child". So the entire party approaches the line, (fp or standby) and then the CM will give the rider switch pass to the parent riding second. We used riderswap quite a bit in April and October 06 and the CM's were very strict about seeing the baby/toddler.

Also keep in mind that the riderswap is intended to keep the waits to one rather than two for families that can't enjoy the attraction together due to height restricions.

I am not sure what you are trying to say here.

I am also curious about baby swap. On our last trip we only used it once to ride Soarin', we were in the stand-by line, and it worked out great. I rode Soarin' first with DS 5 at the time. DH stayed with DS2. Then when we were done DH rode Soarin' with DS 5. I was so jealous that DS 5 got to ride it twice!!

Anyway, on our next trip we will be traveling in a group of 12 with 4 children under the age of 6. Keep the good info coming about baby swap please!

I am not sure what you are trying to say here. ?

Just that baby swap (rider switch) is not a fast pass or a head of the line pass. It's is so that a family with a child who dosen't meet the height restriction can experience an attraction without a double wait. At other parks both parents have to wait the line, at Disney you can either switch at the exit or get a rider swap pass so that in effect you only wait the line once.

Sure here is a repost of my child swap 101. It is very unofficial but based on my many years of using the various evolutions of babyswap/childswap most recently in Feb and April and October of 2006 with my 2yo neice and 4yo nephew and 9 & 10yo dd's.

My first advice on baby swap is to tell the CM at the attraction before you enter the line (either Fastpass or Standby) that you want to use the swap and find out how they handle it. Do not wait until you are boarding!

The baby/child unable to ride must be with you to do a swap so everyone must approach the line together. Some CM's have you all wait the line together, then the first parent and older child(ren) ride and other parent and younger child wait at the exit and then switch via the exit allowing the older child(ren) to ride with both parents. Off hand I think only Star Tours and Primeval Wirl still do it this way. Most rides now give you a rider swap pass. The rider swap pass works like a fast pass and allows up to 3 people total to return to that attraction anytime that day so the second parent can ride.

You all go to the entrance of the standby line or use a FP in the FP line and ask to use parent swap. The CM will give you the swap pass and the parent riding second and the baby (or young child) can then leave to do something else while the first party rides. The child who dosen't meet the restricion must be with you to get the rider swap pass!! The second parent then returns to ride via the FP line with the rider swap pass and can ride with 2 others (3 max) if they like. I prefer the rider swap pass because the baby or child that dosen't meet the height requirement dosen't have to wait the line for something he/she can't ride.

We just got back from our trip on 10/12, gd1 accompanied us, the baby swap worked great (and some of us did get to ride twice).

If you do the baby swap, which we did at most of the E ticket type rides, you walk up to standby if you are going standby, or the fast pass line when your time window arrives. At the FP line they do check that you are in your time window. Whether you are in the FP line or the standby line they check for the child. Then they give you the baby pass, which is good for 3 people through the fast pass line (whether you originally rode standby or fastpass).

They ask you who is waiting with the child & give the baby pass to them (usually).

Then that person waits with the baby (along with whoever else is not riding, in our case often my mother did not ride also). Everybody else gets in the appropriate line & rides. When they are done, 3 people can go through the fastpass line with the baby pass.

We got "extra" rides 2 ways. We always got a fastpass for everyone in our party, but sometimes somebody didn't want to ride, so another person in our party used their fastpass to ride 2x in a row.

Also, when we got the baby pass, we would have at least 1 and sometimes 2 extra fast passes, (whoever waited with the baby), so we would end up with a baby pass good for 3, plus the 1 or 2 fast passes that didn't get used the 1st time around.

Also, on Everest, the third day we were in AK, the cm sprinkled a little extra magic on my ds & dh & let them go through without handing in fastpass two times in a row! It was great!

Also, usually you can get another fastpass 1 hour after you get your first one. (at least that's how it was for us). Dh hates waiting in line so we used the fast pass a lot.

Y'ALL ROCK! Thanks for the advice! I have used Child Swap when it was just my husband and DS. Now I will have DD1 with us and friends with their DD! It gets more complicated when there are so many involved!

The picture was from Photopass...and we scanned it after it arrived in the mail! That way, we could send it to everyone! It is a pic of my siblings and cousins w/spouses/boyfriends! How awesome, eh? My grandparents paid for ALL of us to go together! BEST TRIP EVER!

Yes, it can be done. When you approach the first cm with your little ones, you will be given a child swap. Then, the first group rides while the others wait out with the little one. The members of that first group are the only ones that will need a FP. You do not need to use your child swap immediately. In fact, the ones we got from Epcot were good until 10/31! When the second set goes in to ride that ride, all they will need is the child swap pass. That will get them in the FP line, or wherever it is they need to go for that particular ride. The person holding the pass and 2 other people can ride together. Yes, it is designed so that the family only has to wait one time, but it doesn't mean you have to ride that ride immediately. I always thought it was OK to use it anytime that same day, but check. I was surprised at the ones for Test Track, being good all month. Because you won't need FPs for the second group, go ahead and use their tickets to get FPs somewhere else.

Yes, you can do exaclty what you asked.
It works particularly well for Splash/BTMRR and for RnR/ToT.
