We will probably get a taxi from the airport to BWV and are travelling with a 1yr old child. Do the taxi's provise child seats? What are the arrangments if you go on one of the shuttle buses?

Your best bet is to bring your own car seat for the one-year-old. You could try calling the taxi company and shuttle company ahead of time but I've never heard of a taxi providing a car seat. Keep in mind thta car seats are not a legal requirement on public transportation but for safety and your own peace of mind, you may want to bring one.

Unfortunately it's just not practical for us to bring the car seat from home as it can't be counted as hand luggage on the plane! We plan to rent a car once we get to WDW but just need to get from the airport! Is it law that a child must be in a car seat in a taxi?

I understand about it being a hassle to bring along a car seat just for the trip from the airport to WDW. You do not legally have to have a carseat in the taxi. One option to consider is using a towncar service from the airport (Tiffany Towncar, Florida Towncar, IBEX, etc.) as you can request that they provide a carseat.

O by the way if your little one is under 40 wt. It is the LAW in Fl. the child has to be in a Car Seat, in a car.
Not in a Shuttle.BUT I want my kids to be SAFE don't you!!!

I assume that you have not booked a seat for your child on the plane. I would strongly urge you to reconsider and do so, as it will go a long way to protect your child from serious injury in case of an accident or turbulence.

You can check the seat as luggage. There is no additional cost, and they will bag it in a heavy plastic bag to help protect it.

Why not simply rent a car at the airport? It seems that you'd be spending just as much taking a cab as the extra day rental.

Otherwise, take a car service from the airport to the resort. With advance notice they will provide a car seat for you.

We asked TTC about this when we booked them because we have a 20 month old and a 4 yr old(who is about 40 lbs, and in a booster seat at home). They said they do provide one(and only one) car seat if you request it. Also, they told us that by law, children dont need to be in a car seat if they are riding on public transportation, and that is what TTC is considered. I would think taxis would be considered the same thing, but I dont know about that for sure. You might want to check that out if you are really stuck. Good Luck!

As the original poster is coming from England it is probably inpractical to (1) bring their own car seat or (2) purchase an international ticket for their child.

Debs, you best bet is to contact one of the Towncar services. I think that they are very close in price to a taxi (if not cheaper) and you can arrange a grocery stop with Tiffany. There you can pick up a styrofoam cooler and supplies for your baby. This will come in handy even if you stay on-site at WDW. It's great to be able to have cold milk and juice in the morning and cold beer at night ;).

I've flown internationally with my daughter twice now. To make things easier, ask for a bulk head seat. You'll have more room for your legs and your baby will have room to stretch out. Some airlines provide "Sky Cots", but your little one is probably too old for that. My 4 month old slept most of the trip to and from London in 1999. British Air provided a seat belt extender that went around my DD's waist for take offs and landings. It would also come in handy during turbulence. I, in turn, bought a Baby B'Air which works on the same principle. It's a vest which has a loop in the back where my seat belt feeds through. I used it on my flight to Japan in 2000 and again recently to Orlando this month. It's long enough to allow my DD to cuddle with me and nurse, but not so long that she'd be thrown during turbulence.
