Let me start by saying that I am not doing DDP, we have AP and DDE card.

My DD8 is growing up in her tastes, and a week and a half of mac-n-cheese, chicken nuggets, and PBJ will not be her thing. Neither will ordering a full adult entree that she can't finish be MY thing.

Are there any restaurants with good child portions of steaks, grilled shrimp, fish, or other kid-portioned adult food? Any recommendations will be appreciated.

3-1/2 weeks to go!

The signature restaurants do- I know my ds had a great steak at the California Grill. I have seen them on the other menus as well. If you are at the other places- one thing we usually do (we have the same situation) is my ds orders an appetizer as his main course- and then maybe a soup or a salad as an appetizer. This obviously only works if you do it OOP

That's kind of tough. You could share a meal with her. You could look at the appetizers and maybe get two of those for her.

When I was in my "light eating" stage, doing an entire meal was way too much for me. I usually ordered an appetizer and then soup or had dessert.

Don't forget that you can also ask for just a side of something. So if you split a steak meal with her and just split the steak, you can get her a side of potatoes or whatever.

I never had a problem with my son and him eating an adult meal. I think he started that at the age of five!

LeCellier at Epcot has grilled steak on their kids menu. The turf club at SSR has grilled chicken on their kids menu. There's a meatloaf dish on the kids menu at 50's PTC. At the Hollywood Brown Derby at MGM they have a fish and a grilled chicken entree on the kids menu. You could also go to the fish and chips stand in the UK at Epcot. Also at any CS location she can get an adult meal and maybe you could split it?

I hear ya....

When I told my DD5 that we are going to WDW in april....
she says....."but mom last time all I ate was chicken nuggets
and my belly hurt":rolleyes1

She is picky though....so it is tough....
I'll just order what she wants.....and bring a couple of things
from home that I know she will eat.

the mainstreaming of the kids menus......is pathetic...IMO:sad2:
edit....I can't remember what table service it was.....but they don't even make the
stupid PB&J's.....they were charging TS credit for an uncrustable:(

My dd9 (will be 10) will be sharing this year. Last year we had the DDP and a couple of signatures and she was able to get steak etc, Wispering Canyon Cafe she got the skillet. This year as an adult on the plan, she wouldn't be eating an adult portion and I can't see paying for the DDP. We will do a lot of sharing. We'll probably share an appetizer for the table DH, DD and I and then DD and I will share an entree. We do this a lot at home now as her taste buds are maturing and I can't stand her always eating fried chicken strips when we go out.

I never fail to see why they think kids want that limited variety of food while there.... No wonder why kids don't have a varied diet.... And if you're allergic to dairy products, that knocks mac&cheese off the list, making the choice much more limited (same goes for the other stuff on the list, peanut butter being a bigger allergy than dairy as far as number of people allergic to it...).

They should allow small portions of adult meals for children for those who use the dining plan. Give the kids choices, people!!!!

I'm seeing celery and carrot sticks and grilled chicken. Just what every child wants.:scared1:

Actually, just about every kids menu offers both kiddie choices and more adult choices. I went through the menus for Studios, Epcot and Magic Kingdom. I noted the not 'kiddie norm' choices below. Since your DD loves Fish - she's in luck

50's Prime Time - Grilled Fish of the Day & Meatloaf

Brown Derby - Tempura Grouper Strips with steamed broccoli and dipping sauce & Grilled Chicken Breast & Beef and Macaroni

Mama Melrose - Grilled Fish of the Day &

Thanks for the info! I was actually being facetious. All kidding aside...I have one GD that only wants spaghetti, hot dogs, hamburgers and chicken nuggets. She won't even eat macaroni and cheese. It will be a little challenging with her this trip.

the prob is that the kids' plan is only $10 a day, so after CS & snack, TS is just about free (in most cases, kids' DDP is a loss leader). & if they offered regular ("adult") menu items on the current plan, unfortunately the child sized would have to be about 1/3 the size of an adult entree (which in certain cases, such as filet minon, would be really miniscule :confused3 ).
the only way i can see the DDP ever coming close to "fitting" everyone (including the many adults who eat very little) would be to base it on the method used for MYW tix: a very basic package (maybe just TS entree & drink), & each additional choice (appy, dessert, CS, snack) being a single option, incurring an additional cost. kids' menus would need to be revamped (adding more "adult" food in maybe 1/2 portions), & their DDP would also only include the entree & beverage ~ but it would def increase the kids' DDP price.

as we learned with MYM tix tho :rolleyes1 , changes tend to increase cost :guilty: . IMHO, i think its better just let the child pick an adult appy, & pay OOP for it :)
