I know when we went in 2005, we bought some velco id's for ds's shoes in case he was separated from us - I had my name and cell phone number on them. I cant find the ones we used then to use now and I cant remember where I got them, but I know I read about them on the DIS.

How do you 'mark' your kids in case they get lost? What are some good websites?

I've seen kids with these on their shoes: http://www.whosshoesid.com/

I've seen kids with perm. marker on their arm (at wrist area) with parent name (I'm assuming) and phone number.

I've read here on the DIS that some parents put a small slip of paper inside shoes, pockets or pin to clothing.

If your child wears a lanyard with a plastic case (for FPs) then tuck something inside the case. If s/he wears a Disney name tag (like a CM) put your phone/name on the back of that.

Most importantly teach your child whom to speak with if s/he realizes Mommy & Daddy are lost.

Best wishes!

I know this sounds bad, but we use pet tags! They hold up really well, and now they come in all kinds of cool shapes. The boys had Spiderman and my DD had a heart. Room for name and number at the very least, and not very expensive. We attached it to her shoe.

I really liked the temp tattoos from safetytat I used them on their upper arm and they lasted 3 days. They worked great at the water park also since there they don't have shoes on. I found out about them here on this board and loved the idea. I am thinking of using them when I take my brownie scouts out on our next outing.

I've done two things - one is use the rubber bracelets, like the ones that are for cancer awareness etc. but you can get just plain ones at the dollar store. I write on them with a sharpie then I have the kids wear them on their ankle. I have also bought fabric pen, they have a type of pen that is used for sewing that comes out in the wash - I write on the hem of their shirt, so that if they would flip their hem up they would be able to read it, and you can fit lots more info there. My DD is really shy, so I can write a whole little message on there in case she won't talk. I have done the slip of paper in the pocket too, but not at disney.

The pet tag idea is great. There is a machine at my local walmart and they're about $4. I actually use them for swim bags, instruments, car seat, etc. I just put our last name and cell phone number. The pet stores have them too but at the Walmart I don't have to go in, just put the money in like a regular vending machine.

Kudos to you mommy librarian for mentioning this. I didn't b/c I didn't want people to think anything weird. So, now that I'm not alone -- Woo Hooo!

We use the luggage tags that we got from WDTcompany. And we either slipped it on her belt loop or her tied it in her shoe laces. SHe didn't mess with it at all. It had our phone numbers and names as well as my mothers, since she lives in Southern Ca. Ours also stated a few very important things, She has high functioning Autism. Do not touch her head..she may leave area, she doesn't come when name is called ..stuff that is a KEY thing to know about my child. It worked great.

Hiya

We have bought some pretty little soft plastic bracelets for our girls this year - just looked for kids id on ebay and sifted to find what appealed most to us and them. You write your number on in waterproof pen, so they can be used in the water parks too.

PrincessKell, great idea about including important info so your child can be taken care of in a manner that is most helpful.

For those whose kids are diabetic, highly allergic, need any type of extra care that would be important. Imagine that a CM just wants to comfort your child and offers them 'Coolest WDW food treat' only to send your child into anaphylaxsis or spike sugar w/o insulin.

Again, great idea!
