My 4 year old will be st the finish line with my parents. As this will be my last marathon, I would live to have my son cross the finish line with me but don't want to break any rules. It would only be a few steps, not s long distance at all. Is this frowned upon or allowed? Any guidance would be appreciated as I would live to share this with him but don't want to do anything wrong either. Thanks!

It depends on the race I suppose, but it is definitely a no no at Dsnye races. I'd assume its probably not the best idea at any other event though.

From the Final Race Instructions that can be found at runDisney.com:

When you are approaching the finish line, you may see loved ones cheering you on. Please do not encourage anyone to join you in the finish line stretch. Your support team is very important, but please communicate that the race course and finish area is for registered participants and staff only.

The short answer for Disney is NO.

While the boundary within Epcot is only a set of cones, we cross backstage and there is a security presence at that point. It would be a very difficult task to pass him over the fence once you leave the park.

I would hate to see you last marathon be marred.

At 62, this could very well be my last marathon but my concern for other athletes safety and the rules would prevent me from doing something such as your idea.

That's what I needed to know. Thanks to all for your responses. I will be giving him a very loving high five as I go by on the way to the finish line. Good luck to us all!

Yeah....give him a high five, and why not take a few seconds for a hug and kiss, too! Then cross by yourself.
The finish area is very crowded for much of the race (unless you are pretty fast), and I would hate for a stumbling runner to trip over or run into your son.

Happy racing!
