There are 5 of us going to Disney in May--all girls (Mom and sisters) and we are staying at Old Key West. I am also taking my 7 year old daughter with us. We want to hit Pleasure Island one night while we are down there and I was curious about some of the kids clubs that the deluxe resorts offer. Which one would be more convienent (sp?) and which ones are the most fun for the kids?? How soon can I make reservations for that or do I even ned to do that??
Thanks,
Joanie

My 2 DDs loved the Neverland Club at the Poly (they were 7 & 5 at teh time). Last year (aged 10 & 8) they tried Cubs den at Wilderness Lodge, but neither really enjoyed it that much - it was much smaller the the Neverland Club.

We booked as soon as we knew what date we wanted - we had to give approximate drop off time and also leave a credit card number to reserve.

I'd be interested in what people think of other clubs.

Unfortunately, there is nothing that is what I would call "close" And the Kids clubs close at midnight. DD has stayed at Neverland - which she adored and also the one at Beach Club, which she also enjoyed. Neverland is definitely a little larger, but I would go with the one you feel best suites your transportation issues. Personally, the first year she stayed at Neverland it was so large (and loud) that we could have walked in and taken her and I don't think anyone would have been the wiser. (We arrived very close to closing and there was no CM at the front, they were all cleaning up. DD was sleeping) Will you have a car or will you have to rely on busses?

I would not recommend the kid's club at the Grand Floridian.

I have heard wonderful things about the Neverland Club as evidenced by other posts. IF we ever needed child care again for a trip, we would probably check out the Neverland Club for DS & DD.

I will have my own car so busses aren't a problem. My other question is this,....My mom is going with my sisters and I too PI but she has already stated that she probably won't want to stay pass 11 p.m. so will the club let my mom pick her up instead of me if I want to stay at PI later than my mom. Mom has already said that she would go and get Cheyenne and take her back to the room with her so I can stay as long as I want.
Would in room babysitting be better for us?? And if so has anyone used any of the companies that provide in room care?
I have heard wonderful things about the Neverland club so I will probably try that one.
Thanks,
Joanie

Many people in our family have used the Fairy Godmothers. They will send someone to your room to babysitt. Also we liked Kids Night Out. I would recommend using these type of services... that way your child doesn't have to go to another resort, and you don't have to be home by midnight.

Guest Comments on Fairy Godmothers:

Karen Kelley (1/03) comments: We just returned from a trip to WDW last Friday. We were there for my husband to run the Marathon and planned our family vacation around that. We have a 5 year old and a 6 month old and we used the Fairy Godmothers one evening. I would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone, especially if you have children too young to attend the kids clubs. Marguerite was our Fairy Godmother and she took the kids to the playground, food court, and game room (we stayed at the Caribbean Beach). My husband and I were very comfortable with leaving the children with her and they seemed to enjoy the time with her as well.

Chris Frederick (2/02): I just wanted to tell you what a great experience we had with Fairy Godmothers babysitting service on our trip this month. We had a lovely woman named Vera Kennedy watch our 4 year old and 20 month old daughters. She took them to the playground and then did a craft project with them. They were fast asleep by the time we got back.

Michele W writes: We have used the Fairy Godmothers and love them. Well, actually, we have only used one sitter and love her so much that we always ask for her. She is the only babysitter my kids have ever had that wasn't family.

Leanne H. says: I also agree Fairy Godmothers is excellent!! We've used the same sitter on many, many vacations. She's awesome and my son, who's going to be 4, remembers her every trip.

The Cumbo Family: We have 3 children ages 5, 4, and 3 and hardly ever leave them with babysitters. In 1997, we went to WDW and stayed off-site. We used Fairy Godmothers then, again in 1999, and again last year, when we stayed at the Ft. Wilderness cabins. They are wonderful. They bring a bag of toys and come to wherever you are staying, on or off-site. I would highly recommend Fairy Godmothers.

Diane Welch (12/01): Just returned from a great Disney vacation and we took advantage of the Fairy Godmother's service. I have nothing but good things to say. Very efficient, trustworthy and reliable. I felt very comfortable leaving my children with her. She had all her credentials with her and brought videos, prizes and the kids kept talking about what a great time they had with the Fairy Godmother. That's how they always referred to her. She arrived 20 minutes prior to her scheduled time and did not charge for that - that was her get acquainted time - which was nice and she just asked for estimated time that we would be back - so she could let her family know when she would be returning home and also called ahead of time to see what the children like to watch & do. I would definitely use them again and is worth every penny.

I would recommend the Neverland Club, that way your daughter will have other kids to play with (vs. an in room sitter). I am sure that you can make arrangements at the time you drop her off to allow your mom to pick her up. My son loved it! I think that he was 8 at the time. It gave him a chance to play with other kids and a break from adults.
