Hi. If anyone with a 2-3 yr old in a daycare CENTER part time 2 days a week would be willing to let me know the cost, I would appreciate it. Cant find tuition listed and want to have an idea what is normal before making calls. We live in MD.
Thanks

Can't really help with accurate costs...my oldest is almost 13 and was in a two year old room for just a few months before his brother was born and then our daycare situation changed. But I was just going to say that most centers don't let you do part time care unless they find someone who can use the exact spot you are not using on your off days etc. Because of our schedules, we only needed four half days a week of care, but had to pay for five full days. Back in 2003, we were paying $165/week for a toddler full time spot. I assume it has gone up quite a bit since then? We are also in MD.

We are in MD also and when my son was in the 2-3 year old room (2011-2012), we paid $200 for a week. Part-time kids were $50 per day. I think the class was 10-12 children and two teachers and one aide. Included breakfast, lunch, and snack and the hours were 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Hope this helps!!

In Massachusetts, I was able to find a nice daycare for $35 per day. No lunch included. Just 2 snacks. Also, we supplied all diapers and wipes. It was a minimum of 2 days per week.

I was going to point this out. My cousin has a toddler and he only needs to be in the daycare a couple days a week, but they have to pay full time rate to keep his spot as well.

This is the norm in our area too. A co-worker has her child in a center and its $225/wk

Such a hard question to get an accurate poll for... in our town (130,000) a center will range from $36 - $66 a DAY per child (full time spot - I would say all include meals). Depends so much on the center but also the type of programming, the age of the child etc. In our area home care ranges from $25-35.

(I have a 2.25 year old and 6 year old)

I have a potty trained 2.5 year old in full time care. We pay $1040 a month which includes all meals and snacks for full time care. This is about $240/week. The price is higher if your child is still in diapers. We are in Colorado.

We use a home daycare and it is $50 per day and she provides food, we provide diapers. We looked at several centers and the cheapest we could find was $65 per day and we had to bring the food, the diapers, the crib sheets, bibs everything (they were also a new center so they were running cheaper to bring in new families). The centers that provided those things were $100+ per day and that seemed average across the board. There are things I like about DS being in a home daycare, but there are often times that I wish we had him in a center instead.

Our 2.5 YO goes three days a week @ $42 a day. We provide lunch, they provide snacks. We're in MI.

It really is going to depend on the center as I found a wide range of prices when we were looking. Also different centers have different part time policies. As others mentioned a lot of the time there has to be another part time child that you would essentially share the spot with. My DD is almost 2 and her current daycare is about $270/week for full time and they only provide snacks... we provide lunch, milk, diapers, etc. When we were looking the lowest we found for a center was $210/week and I will say you get what you pay for. The price goes down slightly the older they get (at least at our center). We are in northern Delaware.

Rates vary widely throughout our state. You would do better to ask friends, neighbors, or members of any groups to which you belong what the going rate might be and what they recommend. Is there a group for children the same age at the local library or community center? Ask mothers there. If you don't want to join the group, go to the place before or after the group meets to ask questions. Also, rather than calling, you want to visit the centers and look around and ask for their info. Centers will have an info packet to give you. Show up and see what you can see, and then make an appointment to visit. You may not find openings just when you want one, however.

You really need to call around. You will pay a different amount depending upon where you live. You also do not want to pay the "least expensive" place as sometimes you...get what you pay for! Good Luck.... when I ran a day care, (I was the director) you really didn't save much money going part time. The day care has to make $ to pay the staff and they need to fill the othe 1/2 of your spot.

I found that around here, it is difficult to find part time day care. From their point of view, they are giving your child a slot that usually could easily be filled by a full time child.

You may find a home daycare to have a flexible arrangement.

Have you looked into a Mothers Day Out program?

I just needed someone to watch my little guy one day a week so I could catch up on some admin work and run some errands. The rate is monthly, and most kids are part time. I pay $72 a month, which is a bargain even for Oklahoma.

Holy crap daycare is expensive for you guys! As a toddler my DDs full time daycare which included breakfast lunch and snack was only $117 a week. Switched to another daycare at 2 (4 star) and it is $107 a week. This is all in NC.
