Child AP - Can you use for AP rates?

At the moment, only my DS6 has an AP. DH & I had ours run out in November, but DS's runs until Spring. We'll probably get new AP's for us when we go this Spring, but would it be possible to book an AP rate for a resort using DS's AP? If we don't need the AP in hand to book, could we check in with DS's AP or would we need to pick up an adult AP first?

You cannot book an AP rate on line with a child AP. But, you can apply a code when one comes out and show your AP when you arrive. You will have to have an adult AP when you check in, or a voucher I believe. I have used AP discount 3 times and never been asked to see my AP, so who knows for sure, but the rule is, adult AP required at check in.

Although people were able to use a child's AP in the past to obtain AP rates, the AP rates currently offered by Disney specifically state that a VALID ADULT Annual or Seasonal Pass must be presented at the front desk when you check in.

People here will probably argue that they've used AP rates umphteen times and have never been asked to present their passes when they checked in and that may be true, but would you really want to take the chance?

We'll be buying APs in August, and when I called Disney to ask some questions that was one of them. The answer was "No."

Actually my question was a little different because I wanted to know if I could book a room with DS's AP if he had an ADULT AP. He will be turning 10 and I was trying to work it out so all of our APs wouldn't expire at the same time, but we would always have a valid one for booking a room. The answer to that is also "No." The AP holder has to be at least 18. And if DH has a valid pass and DS and I go to WDW without him we can't book the room with his pass.

I think I have decided that we will just get all 3 APs at the same time and deal with the renewals next year!
