Yeah, child abuse is wrong. May be a strange idea, but I think whoever's against child abuse should say so in their sig somehow. Doesn't have to be as much as Jenny's and I's though. Just a thought.

I think that spanking is a very personal thing, that's up to the parents. There are much more effective methods of discipline, but spanking is a method that some people choose to use. I don't like it when you hear of a kid getting a slap and then their parents get social services showing up at their door though. There's a difference between excessive spanking, and choosing to discipline your child, even if the method isn't the most useful.

I used to get the wooden spoon a LOT as a kid, trust me, I know how much it hurts. Even these days my parents hit me sometimes. Maybe more than they should, but I have quite the temper. A couple of years ago I would just fly off the handle and lose my temper at my parents, actually disrespecting them and calling them names. They would get mad, and hit me, but I think even though I was disrespecting them, they could handle the situation without hurting me. I was at a really unhappy time in my life, and maybe if they had dug a little deeper, I wouldn't have been so alone and self-concious.

It may sound cheesey, but communication really is key in parent-child relationships. Spanking isn't as effective as talking is, but some parents don't know any other way to handle their kids.

I saw that one too, but the father didn't take the bone marrow, the doctor wanted to save both kids lives, and after they found out what was wrong with the infected kid, he took Marrow without seducing him..which HURTS horribly


And, as a kid I was spanked when i did something bad, like hurt my sisters, or broke a rule. I dont get spanked any more, because now my dad just takes away the computer or my phone. But spanking, i think, taught me to be good.

I'm aware of that now, I didn't have my glasses on so I couldn't really tell. I wasn't paying the most attention to the show.

I was spanked as a kid. I used to cry, but not because I was spanked, because my parents were angry with me and I didn't want to dissapoint them. Them spanking me, has never affected me after the fact, and it probably never will.

Spanking to me, is debateable.
To me, it depends on the situation.
If the kid did something minor, and the person is using it as a way to let out their frustration after a long day, that is wrong.
If the kid did something wrong (like stealing something or something like that), it is entirely up to the parents. They can look after their kids however they want, just not in front of me.
There is no worse sound than a kid crying.

I was watching House the other night and these parents loved the kid with leukimia more than the kid who had an infection that couldn't be defined. Near the end the father is taking the kids bone marrow (the one with the infection) inproperly and the kid was screaming. It was awful, so awful. Even if it wasn't real.

It was not the father who took the bone marrow, it was a doctor, and although I agree it was wrong, it also saved his and his brothers life. I doubt that was be legal in realy life though.

I am against child abuse by the way, it is disgusting.
