My oldest DD was 9 when I recently booked my room-only res and she is listed as 9 yrs old on the confirmation. However, when we take our trip in Jan she will be 10.

When I purchase my tickets and/or if I make any ADRs should I count my DD as a 9yr old or as an adult since she will be 10.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Since she'll be 10 when you go, she needs to be listed as 10 on everything.

I agree with the previous poster.

I had the same problem with my 2 yo who will be 3 at the time of our trip when I called to change to a package last week. When the CM gave me the total, it seemed low compared to what I figured online (entering my 2 yo as a 3 yo). I made it clear to the CM that she would be 3 at the time of our trip, and I wanted the total price to include her cost as a 3 yo. I gave him her birthdate, and he thought that the trip total would change after her birthdate. It seems weird that it is done that way, but I would give them her birthdate and call after her birthdate to see if the problem is corrected and she is a 10 yo on your reservations.

Now that you mention ADRs, I don't even know what I said when I made the ADRs in July!

at 10, she is charged adult DDP, and adult TS. For non-DDP, she can still order form the kids menu for kids prices at most places, counter and Table Service. However, for character meals and ANY buffet, she is considered an adult. We have a 10 yr old and we do not do buffets right now b/c of that--I can't see paying $30 for her to eat $5 of food.
We do sit-down TS, and she orders from the kids menu. Of course, some waiter could insist on an adult meal for a 10 yr old---but it really doesn't happen in practice.
Disney tickets would be adult vs. child, but the $ difference is not a lot. Again, the BIG difference is the character meals and buffets.

Yes, you should correct your reservations to indicate your daughter's correct age at the time of travel.

At 10 years, she will be listed as a "junior" on the room reservations--she will not count as an extra "adult" in the room. But, as has been explained above, for dining purposes she will be charged full prices (as opposed to "child-age 3 to 9" prices) for DDP or buffet meals. Also... and perhaps most importantly... she will need the regular (full priced) MYW admission for the parks.

At 10 years of age, most of the "child discounts" no longer apply. And it is the age at time of travel that is important, not her age at the time reservations were made.

Thanks for all your responses.

I thought it was odd that I told the CM on the phone all the birthdates, but only the ages came up on the reservation. I planned on the adult tix for her so that's not an issue. Might have to re-think the character dining. As you pointed out ldo, tough to justify spending $30 worth of food when they only eat $5.
