Chicken Wings

I have to agree. I am from around Buffalo NY(15 mins) and the wings in Florida are not the same. Last time we got them in FLorida they were baked, not fried (more fattening, but just isn't the same to me).

goodferry, don't get me started on the pizza! I always thought I'd be rich if I opened a NY style pizza place in the South.

sweetheart2576, I was in Jacksonville, FL on business and the wings were breaded and baked??? Talk about nasty, I hate to waste food, but there was no way I eat them.

LOL Chris, I lived in the Jacksonville area and it is like another world. I did find one place there that had decent pizza (the owners were from NY, so that might explain it!)

Breaded and baked.....ill the thought! I thought the same thing about opening a pizza and wing place down there. My husband used to run one for years,

I agree about pizza and wings not being too good once you leave the NE. I grew up in Buffalo and that is where you find "real" wings. Although, I must add, there is a place here in Seattle called the Wingdome that rivals Buffalo wings. The Wingdome is amazing and you wouldn't know that you aren't in Buffalo while eating there...until you walk outside and it is raining instead of snowing! LOL

Also, we have our pizza fed ex'd in from Buffalo. Even my WA born dh is now hooked.

Check out bocceclubpizza.com-I think you can order wings from them too.

Whatever,

for buffalo style, territory lounge at wilderness lodge is my favorite at wdw.

for a different style, the wings at kona cafe at polly are best.

I'm not real crazy about buffalo style, if you ask me they don't have any style at all. Now let's talk horses, they have some serious style!!!

I have vb code turned on, but cannot seem to embode code into my messages. I'm basically loooking for the countdown like most others have.

Thanks for any help...

I'm sorry to tell you, but I think it's to bad that your son is going to have wings when you are going to WDW. There is some many great resturants and counter-services that serves excelent food from all around the world.

I guess You can have wings at home, but how often do You eat e.g. norwegian or moroccan food?

Why's it bad to have your favorite food in your favorite place?

I'm sure he'll eat more than one meal down there too.

Unless he eats wings for every meal. Then he'd turn into a wing. :rotfl:

You can have the best in pizza in NY...but down here it will not be the same.... it is the water...not just the person who makes it. I was born & raised in NY....I now live here in FL. I know several people who own pizzeria's and they all say the same... it isn't to say that "your pizza" will not be good...but even the best pizza here cannot compare to NY!!!! The same goes for bagels!! As far as the wings...(now that I got off topic).... I love ESPN's... I live about 5 minutes from a Hooters & I actually like ESPN's better (could be because I don't feel guilty eating them like I do at Hooter's with all the "Hooter Girls" around while I am stuffing my face but trying to loose weight.. LOL)

There are plenty of places to get good wings in Orlando (Froggers and The Wing house are excellent), I did not mention them since they are not close to Disney. Pizza on the other hand, you will be hard pressed to find good pizza. I think it is the ovens more so than the water, no good brick oven pizza places). I believe the secret to good pizza is to cook it in a very hot brick oven very quickly to give the crust a good flavor.

a friend (a local to the orlando/clermont area) took us to a place (way off disney property) called "Gators Grill" or something like that. They had buffalo wings and several other wing flavors. I believe they specialize in them. no matter what flavor you picked you could get them fried, grilled or baked. You can also get them in any quantity you like. (10 of each flavor, 25 of just two flavors.....)

i will see if i can contact my friend in Fla and get the name/location of the place. Great wings (and this is coming from a family of wing lovers)

ditto on the crappy pizza in Fla. Coming from Philly - and frequenting NYC - ya just can't get good pizza (or cheese steaks for that matter) away from "home".

I also agree with ESPN, and also suggest the wings at Rainforest Cafe.

I too grew up in Buffalo, but now live in Charlotte, NC. Not much here to compare. Thanks on the Bocce Club. Yum. Yum. You are all making my mouth water. If the wing is fatty it's not Buffalo. They need to be crispyon the outside, juicy on the the inside and big. As I understand, fry them, sauce them and then bake slightly for that sealed in crispness.

From previous threads, some people talk about Giordano's pizza, just outside Disney. We might try that. Anyone heard of them and have an opinion?
