I was told a good dish to make is Chicken first soaked in Italian Salad Dressing - Do I really need to soak it for 3-4 hours? Does the chicken actually soak up the dressing?

Thanks.

Poke some holes in the chicken first with a fork or with a corn cob holder....the marinade will soak in better. I usually marinate things overnight.

We usually marinate it for an hour or so. It is a VERY good way to make chicken. We use the Kraft Zesty Italian dressing and grill the chicken.

I usually marinate mine overnight in Wishbone Italian Dressing and then grill it. Yummy!

I marinate it 3-4 hours, then throw it on the grill. I like Bernstein's Italian for marinating. It's loaded with black pepper, which I love.

Yes, Zesty Italian! We marinade ours overnight (when we remember). Scrumptious stuff!

I usually cut the chicken up, put a bottle of dressing in the crockpot and cook it for 6-8 hours on low. It is one of our favorite dishes!!!

Boneless breasts are great when tenderized a bit w/ the mallet, marinated a few hours & then either baked in stoneware pan in oven or grilled.

If you're short on time. There's a 30-Minute Marinade. I think it's made by Lawry's.

We like the marinade from the Cracker Barrel cookbook. It has Italian dressing, lime juice and honey.

We use it to marinate pork chops as well. Very tasty :thumbsup2

I just tried this last nite because of your suggestion. Only marinated it for 10 minutes though. Still came out good. I can see where marinatinging longer would definitely be better. :thumbsup2

I usually marinate chicken in the Italian dressing for 10 minutes also. Comes out great. :)

I disagree. Chicken meat turns mushy when left in an acidic marinade too long.

I think so, too. I have been told to only marinate chicken for about 30 minutes, and then grill. Otherwise, the acid starts "cooking" the chicken, and it gets tough after you cook it.

We use italian dressing all the time. There is also a great teriaki sesame honey marinade which is made by either Ken's or KC Masterpiece, which is delicious.

I will usually poke lots of holes with a fork, put the chicken in a ziploc bag and pour Italian dressing over and marinade for about 1-1/2 hours. We've also used Italian dressing on pork chops, steaks, and beer butt chicken (that does need to marinade longer).

You should try flank steak in Italian salad dressing. It's really yummy.
