Chicken Fingers?!?

You'll get an automated response first. I'm hoping we can get more people to email as well.

OP, are you out there? Could you update the thread title so everyone knows we are writing to Disney with our complaints?

DS claims that the Boma Chiken Fingers are the best he has ever had.

Of course, this was after I encouraged him to try something else off of the $28 buffet.

OMG-me too! I thought the chicken fingers at Boma were the best I've ever had! It's so funny you said that b/c when we were at Boma, I think I repeated the chicken fingers most out of everything there! They also sell similar ones at Mara (AKL CS).

Even if we don't stay at AKL next trip, I think I'll want to head over to the Mara and/or Boma for chicken fingers anyways!

The new nuggets are NOT the gross kids nuggets! Disney has two types of nuggets. The gross kids ones are made from processed chicken and the new ones are made from 100% white meat. It's exactly the same as the chicken strips, but now it's in nugget form. And yes, it's a company wide change.

But are they processed (ground up and formed into nuggets)? The nice thing about the chicken fingers/strips is that they are actual strips of chicken breast...not ground chicken breast parts...still a BIG difference to my taste buds.

Even though I haven't been to WDW since 2000, I sent an email voicing my concerns. It's my first vacation in six years - let me throw caution to the wind and enjoy all the chicken fingers I can get my hands on! :thumbsup2

Hopefully, Disney will take note and make some better changes...

Plus, keep in mind there is less crunchy goodness on the nuggest. That's the best part of the strips!

Just letting everybody know...

This week's Podcast covers the Chicken Strip Debacle! :)

The email address that I gave in an earlier post was given to the podcasters to write in with complaints.

Keep the emails coming!

I can't even begin to think of telling DD16 this. She will cry!! She loves the chicken fingers. It's just not Disney without them!!

So Sad.

Kimba

Edited to add that I sent my email in today. I'll post if I get a reply.

This is what I received a few days after the automated reply. Not sure if this is another typical reply they send or not. Hopefully, our chicken strips complaints are being heard!

That would be great to call him! Do you plan on doing so? I think it'll really get us some more information along with "punch" to our cause! :)

I received the automated message a few minutes after sending my email but I am yet to receive an actual response to my query.

I can't tell you how bummed I am about this - the chicken fingers was how I bribed my teens into coming to Disney with us! They love them! I sent an email too.

Uh huh. So, yet another food-related issue that I have to write Disney and complain about. :sad2: All of this is so absurd to me. I'm just lucky my tastes have expanded from about 10 years ago when I was a teen and wanted nothing other than pizza and chicken tenders in WDW. ;) I am more than a little tired of WDW acting like the food police, which is how I see this as I have no doubt they'll try to explain it as a "healthier option." Probably more about the cost and their bottom line than the healthy factor, but I digress.

I'll post again if I hear back from them.

I've heard (from many people) they are not processed chicken nuggets like from McDonalds. They're just mini chicken strips...like chicken chunks.

That is pretty much what they said on the podcast, BabyPiglet. My issue is the fact that the old strips were super crispy and contained a good piece of white meat. I don't want boring nibblets of nothing.

Down with the nibblets!

Oh BTW...so far the change is only at MK. -crossing fingers-

I will at them about 6 times in a 10 day period. I love them.

I'd like to echo what the PP's said about the strips not being actual nuggets, but just strips that are much smaller than the old strips.

I believe the change has more to do with money than our health. I don't see how deep fried chicken (even white meat) can possibly be considered healthy. :rotfl:

Actually Hollywood Studios and Epcot also has the nuggets. Not sure about AK.
We were at the parks in Feb. right after the change....
