Chicken Exits!

I'm a bit of a wimp when it comes to the big rides, but would really like to see some of the queues. are the chicken exits easy to find? (am scared i will queue and not find the exit and HAVE to go on the ride to get out!!!) and do all the big rides have them?

All of the rollercoasters (definitely SM, BTM, Crush, Indie)you jsut need to climb over (So get in first and then straight back out again and don't sit down if you know what I mean) except for rock'n'roller coaster, but the get off part is very close to the get on part so I'm sure a CM will show you.

ToT you can just not get in the lift and then wait for people to get out I imagine.

For all chicken exits you can wait until the very last minute and then, when the CM asks you Combien? or How many? just say that you don't want to ride and then you can exit.......

TOT and Star Tours: the CM will take you through a separate door to the corridor where riders come out;

Crush and RnR Coaster: there is a door next to the loading area which takes you backstage behind the ride and takes you to where riders disembark.

SM and Indiana Jones: there are stairs back up out of the loading area, opposite where you come down.

BTM - this is the only one where you have to actually climb through the ride, but don't worry, you have plenty of time.

It is defintiely worth queueing, just to see the theming around each ride.

thank you very much for this. BTM is the only one i will do, but i don't like it. i would however like to see some of the queues so this is very helpfull.

my boyfriend wants to know if i say i want the 'chicken exit' will the CMs will make chicken noises at me!

LOL, I have tried the expression a couple of times and just got blank looks, so that's why I say "I don't want to ride". I think the panicky look on my face convinces them.

I wouldn't worry too much about this - when we last queued for Tower of Terror, there were 3 of us heading through the chicken exit and only myself actually going on the ride

In regards to the chicken noise query - a couple of joking comments were raised by the ToT staff (after the other 3 had gone through the door), but I guess that's mainly because it suits the "character" of the ToT bellhops to do that

One or two of the queues are well worth seeing - not all of them though. There's not a great deal to look at in the space mountain queue for instance...

Which ones would you suggest? I have done BTM, but the other coasters are definitely beyond my limits... Nemo included, I am afraid

Here's my thoughts on the queue lines for the various thrill rides listed above (ignoring the rides at the end of course)

Tower of terror - the theming and the pre-show is fantastic and just as good as the ride to be honest. Well worth a look.

Indy - quite nice with some good little sets as you go round and queuing up the stairs into the "temple", with the loop right in front of you (yet with no visible loop track due to some well placed rocks) is also quite nice.

Crush's - pretty good by nothing amazing - worth it if the queue is short, but not worth the 90 minute queue you get in the summer.

Space mountain - it's dark for a lot of it, with a couple of space themed pictures on the wall and not a lot more until quite close to the end. Not really worth the queues it can get, although if the ride is a walk on then it might be worth a look.

Rock 'n' rollercoaster - very interesting if you're into music. There's a lot of signed music posters, guitars, gold records etc (signed by many different groups and artists, not just aerosmith). If you're not into music though, I think it would be quite boring...

Star tours - some very good theming and animatronics inside the queue line, especially if you're interested in star tours. It's quite an immersive queue line as I personally think it really does feel like the space port it's trying to be.

I agree with all of robs comments here!! Except I think the Crush queue isnt worth seeing at all reall,y there are two wooden seagulls which say 'mine, mine' and thats about the highlight of it.

The space mountain queue is horrible. Dark and cramped in most parts, and not pleasant at all, I only ever do it at EMH as I'd feel uncomfortable in the SM queue.

ToT and Star tours I think I may enjoy the queues (and pre-shows) more than the actual rides!!

But if you can manage BTM then star tours will be absolutely fine for you!!

I agree that SM theming is not much but the main reason I queue there is because I would rather be walking round the queue with my family, chatting and keeping warm, than sitting outside somewhere on my own. I tried that the first few years and it feels like they are gone for hours! However when I queue with them it doesn't feel so long.

Good point hildasmuriel. I was just thinking of it from a riders perspective, I don't like the queue, but if all my friends/family were in it and I was sitting somewhere by myself I'd certainly join them too.

Thanks! I know the Star Tours queue (and ride) well, it's one of my favourites... I could try doing the ToT queue, leaving DH with our children, and then let HIM do the R'n'R, as he is the music lover...

You don't have to climb over the ride for BTM as far as I'm aware...? There is an exit on each platform? The exit is where the Babyswitch entrance is and I'm sure you can just walk out of the exit on either side.

On BTM, you queue down the centre platform of the attraction, with a train to your left and a train to your right.

The exits are located on the outside platforms, left of the left hand train and right of the right hand train. What this means is that you need to climb through one train, though there is plenty of time (the train will not be allowed to move until all riders are safely strapped in)
