Chicco Travel System for Infant

I have a 7 month old baby and have this system and like it a lot. The best thing is that the carseat is now top-rated for infant seats by Consumer Reports. I like that you don't need a separate locking clip to secure the seatbelt.

The stroller itself has passed the Disney test with flying colors, two trips, one for baby age 2 months and again at 5 months. It's a great stroller for an infant at WDW. The foot rest comes up and secures, so you can lay in infant in and not worry about seat belts. The sun shade moves all directions---often I would put it all the way down to the front tray, leaving the opening on top so I could see the baby but keep others from reaching in at him. It's also easily adjustable depending on the angle of the sun. Drink holders are nice, big basket underneath. Stroller collapses easily and will stand up vertically by itself. Handle height is adjustable. It rolls like a dream.

The only negative: both components (carseat and stroller) are heavy. Now that my baby is able to sit more up-right, I keep a smaller, lighter weight stroller (it's old, from a previous child) in the car, and use the bigger stroller for longer outings and walks around the neighborhood.

Good luck deciding, and congratulations!!!

We have the Chicco Cortina travel system as well, and I find no faults with it. I have traveled with the car seat and base with no problems, however we leave the stroller at home for plane travel. We have a Mac Quest for that. Overall, I love the ease of the installation of the keyfit and even though we didn't use the latch to have it in the center, it was still VERY easy! The Cortina stroller is great, folds easy and somewhat flat and DS seems to love it! I like the adjustable handle the most.

I know they sell the KeyFit 30 now, which holds an infant to 30 lbs vs the "regular" key fit, which holds to 22lbs, which we have. DS has recently outgrown the seat at 10 mos, and I really miss the ease of the infant seat. That being said, I could not imagine lugging around a 30lb kid in one of those! You'd get Arnold Arms with that one!

Clean up of the car set fabric is easy. Everything is machine washable, which came in handy w/DS's perpetual puking problem, which he finally out grew last month:banana: :woohoo: :yay: :yay: :woohoo:

All in all, I certainly recommend it!

Another big fan here. I really like this system. DS 7 mos has outgrown it, he is 22 lbs. I will admit that it is heavy. Carrying him around in the seat started getting tough a couple lbs ago. We too have a smaller umbrella stroller (also chicco and really like it) for quick stuff.

Thanks you so much - that really helped! We have baby fever in full force and have already been to babies-r-us and test drove some strollers. We looked at a regular Graco, a Graco metrolite, a combi, and a chicco cortina. The regular Graco seemed a little bulky, LOVED the metrolite - we'll get this in a black/pink pattern if bean is a girl, hated the combi and fell head over heals with the Chicco! It's drives SO well, I love that the handles are adjustable since I'm only 5'3", hubby and I Loved the colors it came in for a boy (it's out for a girl - i gotta have pink!!), and it all in all was wonderful!! I just wanted to get some good personal thoughts about it before committing to a $279 purchase!!

We looked at the KeyFit 30 which is all that babies r us carries now and agreed we would go ahead and get it even though it was slightly heavier. It's ok by itself and even with an extra 10lbs in there for me, but once over that hubby will be trekking around with it most of the time! We plan to "wear" our baby alot instead of carry or push, so that should solve some problems. We also plan on buying a Mac (wasn't sure about Quest or Techno) for use when the baby is a little older and probably for our disney trips. We test drove one of those too and LOVED it!!!!! We would just solely get one of those, but really love the idea of a travel system.

Thank you both for your reviews - they were very helpful!!

Anyone else??

We had this system for DS, now 2.5, so it may have changed a little bit in the past two years. We picked based on our car seat choice--the key fit was coming out just as I was due and it seemed perfect (and highly rated even from the start). At the time, at least, it didn't fit with any of the "universal" car seat stroller bases, so our choice was the system or a totally different stroller. We were thrilled with the car seat and I was happy with the stroller. It was on the heavy/bulky side, but they all are, I think. Was pretty smooth, as I recall, and we always had ample storage and DS could nap comfortably.

When we moved on to a lighter stroller we stayed with Chicco, and did their umbrella (now the C6 maybe--runs about $60?) which I hated and despised. It was a bad, quick choice. We just upgraded for a Mac Quest in honor of our upcoming Disney trip (there was no way I was going to face a week in the parks with the Chicco) and we're very happy with it, though admittedly it hasn't traveled beyond our living room so far.

We girls bought that for our friend who had a baby boy in November. She LOVES it! I have a graco stroller system and when we got hers I had some SERIOUS stroller envy. If we ever have another that is what I am going for!!!

I have just the cortina without the carseat and we love the stroller, DD can sit in it better than any stroller we have gotten her so far, been through 3 already. She has low tone due to Down Syndrome and finding a stroller that works for us has been a challenge, we have the graco lydnsey in pink and love it but it just seems awkward unless she sits in the car seat part. With the chicco she can get some sitting up time and the sides come out abit so she doesn't flop too far.

Another big fan here! :thumbsup2 The infant seat was great....a LOT less bulky and much more narrow as compared to the big Graco ones. The stroller is great too - we took it to Disney this past December and it was great to use as a travel system as well as a stroller. I think it's the best one out there!!
