For those of you living in the chicagoland area and are Fields shoppers - Have you heard of a petition to stop the name change to macy's.

I am a long time Fields shopper. Born and raised in chicago I love all things chicago.

I have such loyality (also very stuborn), that when the name changes to macys I will never shop at any of the stores again.

I have not heard that but I do know that our Famous Barr will become a Macy's shortly.

They should have kept it Hudson's since that is all I will ever call it!

I haven't heard anything. It seems like it is a done deal, and everyone knows that. I was shopping at the State St local a few days ago, and the majority of shoppers seemed to have excepted it. Although everyone still discusses it.

There was an on line petition months ago. Macy's is changing the name Jan 1st, they don't care about me......I don't care about them. Haven't been there since they announced a few months ago that they were changing the name....and you know what, I'm not really missing it. It's much easier than I thought.

One of our local department stores (my favorite since childhood), L.S. Ayres, has been swallowed up by Macy's too.

Very sad. I think the name changes early next year.

I know here in the Twin Cities our Field's stores (formerly Dayton's or still Dayton's to most shoppers) will not be totally changed over until next Fall. Also a lot of the merchandise will stay the same in the stores because they are keeping the current buyers that Marshall Field's has and they will buy fior the Macy's North division.

I saw pictures on the Chicago Tribune's website of the "last Marshall Field's Christmas" and there were protesters outside the State Street store. I heard it's a mob scene at the Walnut Room, trying to get a table.

I was sad to see Fields go, too, but after the lousy service I got there today I'm hoping that Macy's will be a change for the better.

All of the Burdines in Florida became Macy's.
