Has anyone taken American Airline from Chicago to Orlando?

I am wondering if meals will be served on the 2.5-hour long flight.

Thanks.

No meals at all the last couple of years. They used to do the Bistro Bags but haven't had those either way for at least 2 years.

We flew Chicago to Orlando 3 times last year.

I miss the Bistro Bags, especially the breakfast. They were very good because they contained name-brand, pre-packaged items instead of typical yucky airline food.
Now we fly ATA a lot, and they have the most delicious cookies in the world for breakfast. We usually fly at night, but on one flight hubby mentioned how much we like them so the flight attendant gave him a whole airsickness bag full of them (I guess that's what passes for a doggie bag on an airplane :p ).

Man. I can't remember the last time I saw a meal on a flight, regardless of the length.

They expect you to buy your own food and bring it on these days. You're lucky if you get a bag of snack mix. Period.

We prefer to eat at the airport before we fly, rather than carrying food onboard.

The good news is that there are a lot of good choices in the American Airlines terminal at Chicago-O'Hare. We usually get to O'Hare about two hours before departure time. After check-in and security, we usually still have over 60 minutes before boarding time.

There are two table service restaurants just inside the security checkpoint -- Wolfgang Puck's and Chili's. Then, there's a big food court further in the gate area. And there are bunch of fast food places throughout the concourses, such as McDonald's and Great American Bagel.

We flew Song down from Boston -> Orlando, and they had MANY choices of food on board, however you had to pay for it, like you'd have to pay for alcoholic beverages.

Same on the flight back, the first leg, from Orlando to Pittsburgh, which was on US Air.

On the second leg on US Air from Pittsburgh to Boston, we got a tiny bag of pretzels... whoo hoo!

Speaking of airlines we have to change planes in Chicago and have a little less than 60 min in between. The terminal seems to be on the same side of the airport. WE are flying United but I am wondering with 2 kids if we will have enough time between flights or are we pushing it just to make it to the gate. Any info at all would be great. I am a little stressed that we will miss our flight.

We just flew American to Orlando Jan 10-18. No food. Going was beverage and granola bar, returning was beverage and the teeniest bag of pretzels.

I am in the same situation as minniemouse1 and therefore have the same questions:

I have to change planes in Chicago and have only 47 minutes for the transfer. I notice that luckily we are changing planes at the same terminal: Terminal 3.

Questions for teh Chicago residents:

1. Do you think we have enough time to buy some fast food and bring them to the plane?

2. Do we have to go outside to board the plane?

Thanks.

I would think you would have time to run over to at least the McDonald's/Great American Bagel location and grab something before boarding. The food court is further away depending on what gate you come into.

All boarding is done from inside.

You get the gourmet meal.

A bag of peanuts and a coke. and they POUR that coke into a plastic cup for you!.... How elegant.

No peanuts. Peanuts are not allowed on airplanes anymore. The allergic to peanuts group got peanuts banned. Even heard of schools where kids can't even bring peanut butter sandwiches for lunch. Therefore we get trail mix, granola bars, or teeny tiny bags of pretzels. Don't flame me, I am sorry if your children are allergic to peanuts.
