Chicago Midway Airport -- Any experts?

I can't find anything on the official Midway website saying which car rental companies are located at the terminal with cars on-site (as opposed to taking a shuttle).

Does anyone know which car rental companies are on-site?

ETA ~ Looking at Expedia, they show Hertz, Budget, Dollar, Enterprise, Avis and Thrifty are all in terminal. Alamo and National you will need a shuttle.

Keep in mind that if do take a shuttle to an off-site location, you will not have to pay the ridiculous airport tax on your rental.

When we travel for an extended period, sometimes it much cheaper to take a taxi to our location, then get the car rented near my destination.

To me its so much easier to hail a cab vs. schlepping though the airport with my luggage looking for the car rental terminal. YMMV

The subway isn't far from Midway eithier...we've walked before.

Well, I found the absolute cheapest car rental price I could anywhere, and then I went on Priceline and did a name your own price and saved another $40.

It is Alamo, which will require a shuttle, but we will each have only a small carryon duffel and I'll have my purse, so I think it will be worth taking the parking shuttle in exchange for saving $40.

We are driving from Midway Airport to Notre Dame U so no choice but to rent a car. The last time we visited Chicago, we were staying at the Chicago Hilton and took a shuttle from the airport to the hotel, which was very, very easy. And we walked or cabbed around town (we were there to do a 1/2 marathon, so the walking was no hardship).

I am in love with the city and will be sad driving out of it from the airport without sightseeing, but we'll get back another time.
