hello sunday afternoon chicagoland homies.........

all your backs are covered again for the week.
went to church and remembered all of you.
you're good to go..........

slo, greenbay will fill the stands.
their fans love to see the team play in this type of weather.

Yes, my freezing friends, this weather stinks!!!
Slo- Dress up clothes aren't the best for cold weather. We went out to a romantic dinner and I wore a skirt and tights. The things we'll do for fashion!
Hersey- My pup wants to go out, but barks to come in after a second! Oh, and the zipper is STUCK! Luckily, it is stuck on the inside fabric, but still. I think I will call a semastress. Don't want to mess with it too much!

To everyone who checked out my dress... Thanks for looking! Glad you liked it:)
MOH sent me an email like nothing ever happened. She said she got her dress and yellow is THE color this season. OOOOkay. I'd still ike an apology.
Gotta' go to a step class. Romantic dinner was huge! We went to Biaggi's with a very generous gift certificate, so we went wild- appetizer, salad, entrees, two desserts, and cappacinno. I feel large today! Ugh. Oh well. wedding is still a few months away, right!?!

Yesterday was an incredilbly lazy day around here - it was awesome!!!! :goodvibes

Rose - I forgot my camera:mad: but my friend took tons and tons of pictures. She also took videos of the concert with her camera that turned out great. When she gives me copies of the pictures, I'll have to show them to all of you :)
**I'm glad Chrissy is doing better :)

Mac - thanks for covering our backs at church yesterday :goodvibes I didn't go to church yesterday because I woke up with a killer sinus headache, and I just couldn't do it:sad2:

Paint - I'm glad you had a nice dinner :goodvibes
**I'm not surprised that MOH is acting like nothing happened - she's embarrassed, and just wants to get this behind her. You should write her an email and tell her that her actions hurt your feelings, and you would like to discuss it. Hopefully she would like to discuss it too. Good luck, and keep us posted!!! :grouphug:

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Thanks for the listing Mac!!!! :)

I want the unseasonably warm back. :beach:

The kids were so hoping for a snow day today but no such luck. I highly doubted there would be one -- this snowfall wasn't a blizzard.

At least the good news is I was smart last night and found the boys snowpants and things because I knew they would need them. Last snow we couldn't find the snowpants and it was right before school so we didn't have time to hunt them down.

I also shoveled last night, I know it's still covered again this morning but I figured I would have less snow to shovel this morning.

Oh well...I knew it was January and we weren't done with winter yet.

Hello everyone. I hope everyone is surviving this cold weather. This mornings ride in was interesting. I don't think our plows did a very good job. I don't think I went over 25 mph.

Well need to get dinner moving.

When I came in this morning my face was pink with windburn

I was

more like the pink in the face without the snow type of weather......

thinking spring

Think harder. It isn't working fast enough.
Hi there all. I want to hibernate til May!!!!! DH, bless his heart, shoveled the deck stairs and deck a bit but then left a foot drift behind my car.:confused3 :rotfl2: guess he was confused this morning.
Tomorrow the kids have movie night after school-seeing the Game Plan. So
that means I have an extra 1.5 hours to do housework. Yea Me!!
How is everyone? Anybody with any fast plans to escape this frozen tundra?
Well, off to do the PTO junk I couldn't talk myself into doing this weekend. :rolleyes1

Is it me, or is this month going by at the speed of SUPER SLOW :faint:
The winter months are like this for me every year - I hate it!!!

Becky - Did you kids play outside? My girls asked about going out, but I wouldn't let them, because I knew with it being as cold as it was, they be in as soon as I let them out

HERSEY - Kevin didn't talk much about his ride to and from work, so his commute must have been very slow too:headache: . Now that I work 5 minutes away from home, I never know what's going on outside of my backyard

Mac - I would like a sunburn too, because if I had a sunburn, than that would mean I was sitting by my pool :sunny:

Tiggggggern - The only one I know that's leaving soon is Kevin. Him, his dad, and his friends are going to Florida in February to see the Daytona 500 :car: I'm so jealous - he'll be warm, when I'm cold :cold:

Well, I gotta run and get ready for work
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Slo- I like your last few polls. I'm coming over for soup and brownies! I'll pass on the bungee jumping!
Mac- Don't know why moh is acting like nothing happened. I think I'll have to suck it upand say something. She isn't getting the hint!

Well, I will b e lucky if I get through work and school today without a call from dd's school nurse. She had a uti over the weekend and is on meds, but they don't seem to be working. She was crying about it last night and this morning. I have one class this morning and am thencalling the dr. Any moms of girls have experiencewith this? This is her second in a few months and they want to do some tests, one which involves cathetering her!
Adios, amigos. time for Spanish. Hopefully I can get through a 50 minute class!

Morning all.
Hey Paint. I feel so sad for your DD. Unfortunately, once you get a UTI, it is just so easy for them to recur. Much has to do with the way little girls wipe themselves and the fact that most do not drink enough water. She may need a stronger antibiotic to completely get rid of it, but then you really have to stay on her about drinking water, (cranberry juice for now and as much as you can get her to drink), make sure she is wearing cotton panties and not those silky ones and that her jeans or tights are not to tight. All that keeps in the warmth and promotes the bacteria/yeast growth. That goes for all us big girls too.;) I'm not so sure catheterization is such a great idea. I don't know if they are trying to get a sterile specimen or what, but that does not usually help cure any problems and has the tendency to cause some. Really question her doctor for the reason why and what knowledge will be gained from it to see if it really is necessary. It may be they aren't sure she is fully emptying her bladder each time she goes. So they may be looking for residual. But that seems an odd thing to look for in a little one.
(of course, I am only the nurse and not the doctor and peds is not my specialty, but I would want to be well informed first).
OK well I am off to clean the house today and try to stay warm!!!!!
Hi all-hope you are keeping toasty.
Slo, how lucky for your DH to be going south in Feb. I had a Ding for $150 round trip for Orlando for Feb. and then my DSIL called to tell me they would be coming in to visit the exact time I wanted to go visit my friend who is vacationing in Orlando and had invited me to visit her. DRAT!!!! There is just no escape!!
Later all

Paint ~ How old is your DD? My DD, Lauren, was 4 months old when she was diagnosed with Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR), which is where the urine flows back up into the kidneys. She had numerous tests over the next 3 years that are probably what your doctor's are talking about. The one she had done the most was the VCUG.

A pediatric voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG) is an x-ray examination of a child's bladder and lower urinary tract that uses a special form of x-ray called fluoroscopy and a contrast material.

Several x-rays are taken of the bladder. Then, after cleaning the genital area, a catheter is inserted through the urethra, a tube that carries urine from the bladder out of the body, into the bladder, which is filled with a water-soluble contrast material. The catheter is then withdrawn.

The radiologist and/or the technologist will watch the fluoroscopic monitor while the bladder is filling to see if any of the liquid goes backward into one or both ureters. Several x-ray images of the bladder and urethra are then taken as the child empties his or her bladder. A final x-ray is taken when the child has voided completely.

The patient must hold very still and may be asked to keep from breathing for a few seconds while the x-ray picture is taken to reduce the possibility of a blurred image. The technologist will walk behind a wall or into the next room to activate the x-ray machine.

When the examination is complete, the patient will be asked to wait until the technologist determines that the images are of high enough quality for the radiologist to read.

A voiding cystourethrogram is usually completed within 30 minutes.

She also had a nuclear renal scan done, which was similar but since it was only the one time, I really can't tell you much about it.

Like I said, we discovered this when she was a little baby. She was placed on a prophylactic (daily) dose of antibiotics to help prevent any new infections. She had a few "break-through" infections that were treated with a higher dose of medication. Lauren outgrew this condition by the time she was three.

I know of several people whose DD's have this condition. There is one right here on the DIS who I could put you in touch with if you would like. Her DD is 9 I think.

I hope that this is not too much info for you. I believe in the power of knowledge when it comes to my kids health, so I lap up this kind of stuff. All I can say if it does turn out to be VUR, it is treatable, and she could still out grow it.

Oh, and besides the things Tiggerrn pointed out, another good thing to remember is no bubble baths.

snap, it has taken me all day to get on the dis.

i'll be glad when its running better.

going to work tomorrow.
saving for my motherland trip again.

see you tomorrow when the skool bell rings.........:teacher:

Brrr.......Brrr........Brr.........!!!!! :cold: :cold: :cold:
I hate these super cold mornings on school days - it stinks to go outside for Stephanie to catch the bus. Thankfully, we don't have to be outside for to long, because I watch for the bus behind my house, and when I see it, I tell Stephanie to run like the wind to the bus stop. Then we are only outside for about 2-3 minutes :thumbsup2

Paint - I"m sorry to hear about your DD :guilty: Stephanie has had problems too, and she has seen a Urologist for it. She had to have a Voiding Cystogram done 2 years ago, and that's a test where they use a cathider (sp?) If you have any questions about it - please send me a PM :)
In the mean time - I will send tons of PD her way!! :wizard: :wizard:
**I'm glad you've been enjoying my polls:goodvibes

Tigggggernnnn - I agree with your UTI post 100% :thumbsup2

piglet - I agree with your post too!!! :thumbsup2

mac - I've been getting really frustrated with how slow The DIS is during the day and night. The fastest time is right now, when most people are asleep :)

Well, that's about it from me today
I need to go get ready to go out into the frozen tundra :cold:
Have a good day today!!!
