Yesterday's shopping day was a total success :Pinkbounc

We got alot bought, and 75% of our shopping is now done :thumbsup2

All that shopping really got me into the Christmas spirit :santa:

So last night when we came home, I put on The Polar Express is super loud surround sound - it was awesome!!!! I love, love, love, that movie, and I love the music from that movie. I think I'm going to order the soundtrack from Amazon today :teeth:

This morning I have to take Stephanie to her school for her Secret Santa Workshop. That's where she can go pick out gifts herself for all of her family members. The gifts are super cheap, and it's always fun to see what she gets us. :goodvibes

macraven - A dusting is a good way to put it - that's exactly what we got ::yes:: We can still see the grass - Stephanie is not happy :sad2: She wanted all the snow you got.

HERSEY - I hope you enjoyed your snow day :) Did Alex go out in the snow?

Rosemarie - I'm glad your DH made it to work safely. Are your kids loving the snow?

Debbie - Sending lots of PD for your parents to get out easily Sunday w/o any more delays :wizard: Did your DD get to go sledding?

Donna - I think it was a good idea to call off work yesterday - I"m sure they understood :) To answer your question - the time you wrote it was no longer snowing. I think it stopped around noon.

Becky - I had to chuckle about your nativity - to funny!! :)

Bunchkin - It sounds like you and your kids had a wonderful day yesterday :goodvibes

Well, I guess I better go get dressed.
Have a good day today

Hi, everyone! :goodvibes

slo - I'm headed out shopping today myself. I have lots of coupons to use (I'm a coupon queen) for Bath and Body works, Kohls, NY& Company and Penney's (although that one is for tomorrow) :teeth: I just have to remind myself to use them on gifts for others - not on stuff for myself
I LOVE Polar Express, too!! It was on last night on ABC! Though I own the DVD, I couldn't pass up watching in on my HD tv :teeth: I LOVE the animation (or whatever it's called) because it really sticks with the book illustrations. And the ending with the bell not ringing for the parents, just gives me the willies and brings tears to my eyes. What an excellent story! :goodvibes

Well, gotta dry my hair off and head out the door. I had yesterday as a snow day and Monday I'm off, too so I have a nice 4 day weekend (Two weekends in a row!! :cool1: ) I work at my part time job tomorrow, but it's only for 4 hours and we're having our Holiday Open House for the public, so that isn't bad at all.

Good morning! IT is very sunny here :sunny: too bad it doesn't = warm.
I think I'm a little out out of shape I'm sore today from shovelling I had the kids pick up the ice boulders yesterday while I dealt with the snow part.

Slo if you want any snow let me know. I'm not sure how I am going to get my mail today.

Hello to everyone stay warm :wave2:

Me too! I'm *so* sore today. I didn't realize how sore I was until I stopped shoveling yesterday, sat down for a bit and then when I went to get back up realized my muscles were rebelling. :lmao:

I'm very sore today too, I feel like Tim Conway with his little old man skit.

Hee Hee. I'll survive just move really, really slowly for everything.

Tonight our church is showing Polar Express and so I will be taking the big kids.

good afternoon chicagoland homies.

hope you al are doing fine.

becky, is joseph and mary still having their tiff?? :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

our streets are still ice, no salting yet and i had to walk to the post office today to mail something out.
walked in the streets as no one around here has cleared off their sidewalks.

going to let son play on the computer and catch up on his emails.

i have not even started to buy one thing yet.
but, i did buy a furnace and humidifer last week..... :rolleyes1

Hi Everyone!
Happy weekend to all of you.

My DD and I took the Metra train downtown today for a little Polar Express outing. It was OK. My DD was just thrilled to be on a train and to see Santa again. We ate lunch in the train station and then just came straight home.

Bad news, my DH has a heart condition called Atrial Fibrillation (any one familiar?). Well, his heart went into AFIB this morning. It's hard to explain and can be very scary. The heart needs to go back into rhythm. It can go back on it's own (at anytime to 3 days) or we have to go to the hospital where they shock it back into rhythm (like they did last time :sad2: ). I just worry about him. It has now happened twice in a years time now. He is only 38 so I know they are going to eventually want him to have corrective surgery for it so he doesn't have to deal with it his whole life. Too much to explain in one post. Sorry to drop it on you guys.

Hopefully I will talk to you guys later where I am telling you he is already better. I DO NOT want to have to go to the hospital! :guilty:

Yes they are and since they are waist deep in snow, I think they are going to be for quite a while. Not only that but this is a light up one and the angel has an electric cord around her waist and I think another one of the other things in the scene might be chocking on their wires. We had just put them out but hadn't really finished setting them up. DH was supposed tofigure out the electrical part but until this all melts some I think they are kind of stuck like that (and the way the weather goes around here, it will probably all melt before Christmas and we will end up with a Christmas where you can see the grass! :rotfl2: ).

Here's my take on it Mary is just miffed at Joseph for not arranging reservations ahead of time and they were stuck out in the Stable (or Joseph took a wrong turn and their reservations were given away since they obviously didn't get there until really late).

I don't know it just made more sense to me to have the angel next to Mary who is holding baby Jesus than the angel next to Joseph but apparently the angel should have been next to Joseph due to the way these are made (at least I had Mary next to Joseph!!!!). I will try to make sure they have made up before Christmas (I hope!).

Sounds like this would be a drama skit my church would probably do, Mary upset with Joseph :teeth:
The angel by Mary would be more accurate to me, too.

Hi all-
We just got back an hour ago from a Christmas party for the kids- kids with disabilities in my township. We go every yr for about the past 4 or 5 yrs now.
The kids really enjoy it. They have lunch catered in from a couple of restaurants ie. hot dogs, chicken fingers, salad, chips, mostaccoli (sp), and cupcakes. Then they have entertainment. This yr was a guy that did a marrionette puppet show. It was pretty good! Then Santa comes out and they call each family up to have a picture taken with Santa and receive the presents. Chrissy received a My Little Pony small playset. Matthew received a Sponge Bob DVD. Seemed like the kids were happy with their gifts this yr :thumbsup2 In the past couple of yrs, my kids received a generic version of some of the gifts, which is ok, but not the real thing. This time, looked like the gifts were done right :thumbsup2 I think our township has up to a $15 maximum gift limit per child. But can't complain, just as long as the kids are happy being there at the party :goodvibes
We are leaving soon for church tonight.

Debbie- Sorry to hear about your Dh's Atrial Fib :guilty: :grouphug:
Usually heart meds keep it under control. If it doesn't, then the cardioversion(shocking the heart back to normal rhythm) should help. Prayers and PD for your DH :wizard: I know Bunchkin is all too familiar with irregular heart rhythms.
Glad you and your dd had a great time on your Polar Express train trip! :thumbsup2

Slo and Jedi- I love Polar Express, too!! We saw the move twice at the movie theater when it came out 2 yrs ago. I bawled the whole time watching hte movie. I love hte songs in hte movie, they just make me cry. We have the DVD, too. It's interesting, since Matthew took out the Polar Express book out of the school library about 2 yrs before the movie came out. The book was written in 1986, I believe. I bawled reading the book to him in kindergarten. I'm such a softy for all the emotional stuff in the story
It didn't help with the movie, Tom Hanks playing the roles he did. He is such a great actor!

Hi Mac and Hersey and everyone else :wave2:

Ok, gotta go. Have a good afternoon and evening.

Becky I was at the Disney store today. They dad High school musical speaker pillows for Ipods or mp3 players. They also had a Pirates version too. I thought of you. They had High school musical tee shirts.

CarolAnnC had some atrial Fibrillation for years. It was never bad, so the cardiologist just kept an eye on it. After she moved to Chicago, she developed some Ventricular Tachycardia. Her new cardiologist was so concerned, he wanted her in the hospital in a monitored bed that night. Well, after some discussion with him, we decided to put her in my car and haul her up to Loyola. They ended up performing a cardio oblation on her to eliminate the vtach. This seems to have done the trick for her, as far as the arrhythmias are concerned.

The Electrophysiologist who performed the oblation at Loyola is Dr. Varma (For some reason, I think I'm missing an "H" in his last name). I think he was excellent. So, if you need to look into it further, I wouldn't hesitate to see him.

Hello!! :wave2:

I hope everyone is staying warm! I'm glad that the sun was out!! :sunny: :thumbsup2

The kids and I went out shopping today. We actually got a good parking spot at the mall. Got some gifts for DH.
Then we went to Sam's Club, which was packed!!

I think I might be the only one here who hasn't seen all of Polar Express. :(
I just recently bought the movie for the kids for Christmas. DD has seen it before at school, and both kids watched it last night.
But what I did see of it was really cute and I can't wait to watch the whole thing....just as soon as the kids unwrap the dvd!! :thumbsup2

Debbie Sorry to hear about your DH and his heart problems.
Does he take any heart meds for his condition? What causes his heart to go off? I have suffered from high end atrial fibs. High end is good, low end is bad. I have 2 heart ablations done in one procedure over the summer to correct the extra heart rythms I had. The procedure was about 95% effective. I still suffer occasionally from very mild fibs.
I hope there is something they can do for your DH to stop this problem in it's entirety.

hersey Shoveling always is a pain!!! In more ways then one!! :thumbsup2 I hope you're feeling better this evening. Take some Motrin! :)

slo Glad to hear that your shopping trip was a success!!! :goodvibes

Rosemarie Your family sounds like they had a fun day today!! :teeth:

jedi I went shopping today with tons of coupons too!! I saved a ton!! Yeah for us!!! :cool1: :rotfl:

Macraven I can't believe the city hasn't salted the streets yet by you. :sad2: I hope the post office wasn't a loooong walk.

Thank you for sharing. We probably are going to have to address the surgery at this point. He is on Sotalol every day right now as a preventitive measure and, of course, no caffiene. He's not out of the AFIB yet which really stinks!

We're talking about the VIRGIN Mary here, right? And, Jesus is already born, so I say she can stay mad at him as long as she wants! :rotfl2:

Sorry, that's my 'little' attempt at humor.

Debbie, {{HUGS}} and prayers for your hubby! :goodvibes Hope he's feeling better soon!!

Sorry for the fly-by everyone! :wave2: :grouphug:

My mom got this in February. Her heart started beating funny, and she went in to the doctor. And then a little later it got worse, so she went over to the ER at Edward Hospital in Naperville and was admitted. She spent one night, and they ended up diagnosing her with AFib, and she's on medication that has controlled it since. <<Knock on wood>> Hopefully she won't have anymore problems with it, but I guess you never know.

Good morning. We went to Woodfield yesterday and got a primo parking spot it was just waiting for us :teeth:.

Debbie6221 I hope your husband is doing better today. :grouphug:

macraven Glad your parents are safe. One less worry :grouphug: too bad I have plans on the 17th I would really like to meet up.

Hope everyone has a good day stay warm.

Yesterday was not a very good day for me :sad2:
On my way out to Stephanie's Santa workshop I backed into Kevin's car with my car :guilty: I dented my back bumper and part of my hatch, and Kevin's car is really bad. The whole passenger door is definitly going to need to be replaced and who knows what else :guilty: I felt so stupid - this is not an expense we need this time of year. We are going to try to pay for this out of pocket unless the total is astronomically to high.

After it happened, Kevin called our town PD over his FD radio to have them come make a Police report in case we use our insurance - I felt so embarrassed  Naturally when he goes on an FD call the guys are going to ask what happened, and also when he goes to work. The FD Christmas party is this Friday - I can guarantee I'm going to be asked about it or teased about it  Oh well - it was just an accident right?!

Last night I watched The DaVinci Code, and I'm indifferent about it. I think I need to see it again to make a decision on if I like it or not. It was very interesting and there was so much information in it, that I know I missed something. It makes you wonder how true the information was - if you've seen it, what do you think???

Jedi - I hope you had a good shopping day :)

HERSEY - Stephanie would love to have some of your snow :Pinkbounc I hope you aren't as sore today.

Becky - I hope you had a good time seeing Polar Express last night :) . I bought the soundtrack yesterday - I just love the music in that movie - it gives me chills.
**I really chuckled when I read your take on Mary and Joseph. I even read it to Kevin - he found it funny to.

macraven - I'm glad your parents went to a shelter where they can be safe. How's your son doing since he's been home?

Debbie - I'm so sorry to hear about your DH :guilty: I will keep him in my thoughts and prayers. Remember we are here for you if you ever need to talk :grouphug:

Rosemarie - I'm glad you all had fun at the Christmas Party yesterday :cool1:

Crissup - :wave2:

Bunchkin - I've never been to Orland Mall at Christmas time - is it decorated nicely? I actually haven't been to Orland Mall in about 2 years - ever since all the construction started on the expressway. I miss it - I love that mall!!!!!

Kim - :wave2:

Leigh - I hope your mom continues to do well :wizard:

Well I"m off to make some French Toast sticks
Have a good day today everyone!!!

Slo :grouphug: sorry to hear how Kevin's truck jumped behind yours. I hate when I do things like that. It never fails I always have an audience. If people start to rib you just laugh it off say something like "we like to keep things like this in the family"

Hope today is better. :thumbsup2
