I've heard wonderful things on this board and from friends about the Chi Flat Iron, but I hadn't tried one till this weekend - it was great!! I think i'm ready to buy one - but I was looking around for the best prices. Has anyone ever bought from Overstock.com? They have one for around $100 that I was looking at. Thanks for any help!

I've heard great things about Chi flat irons too. I've never had the opportunity to try one. I've tried several others and I don't like any of them. So you liked it a lot better than others? What did you like better about it? I might have to invest in one. I really don't know anything about overstock.com so sorry I can't help you with that onel.

I love love love  mine!! It's definately worth every penny :thumbsup2 . The one your looking at is actually pretty cheap I got mine for $100(reg. $120) on Black Friday one year. Sometimes, Ulta has them on sale or you could look for coupons for beauty stores that carry them :confused3 . I remember a couple years ago my stylist told me they have new ones on ebay for under $100 if you lurk about on that site. :) Good luck!

I love CHI flat irons! They work really well. Hope you like yours when you get it! :)

I bought my CHI a few months ago. It's the difference between driving a yugo and a volvo. No comparision. Even my 12-year old DD loves this one so much better. She won't even use hers anymore.

I got mine for about $85 including shipping off Ebay. However, I've been told that buying them off Eay voids the warranty. But if I remember correctly, the seller had an excellent rating and gave their own one-year warranty.

Missypie, it just seemed a lot healthier for my hair. Usually after i straighten it, i need to put another product to make it shinier/silkier, but the Chi was all I needed. My friend (it was her straightener) said the same thing. Plus, her hair is about 4x as thick as mine, and she can even use the Chi to straighten it after it's been permed.

For all you users - is there a difference between the versions of the Chi out there? Some are all black, while other's seem to have red on the outsides - just wondering :confused3

I have a Chi ceramic iron myself. I've had one about 4 years or so I believe. It really is worth every penny of the $100 I spent. I just got mine at a local store for $100... there was no where I went that was that much cheaper. I have had friends use overstock.com with good results though.

Mine is all black, I do know the red ones have a temp setting (okay, so I've been told) but I find that totally useless to me.

I do have silky hair and a ton of it. It just does not straighten well. I also have long hair (down to my mid back) and I need something that will not dry out and damage the hair.

I have talked to hairdressers about it, and my former one stated the idea behind ceramic is that it isn't a pure dry heat. The core is all ceramic, eliminating the metal and dry heat that the others have. They are far less damaging on the hair (you can see the steam from mine on my dry hair). The metal ones strip your hair of more moisture and kill it off quicker.

Also the metal ones just do not work as well. I don't know if it is because it is the dry heat, but my hair will stay straight (even in humidity) with the ceramic ones.

Also ceramic plated don't work as well. I've tried those too, they just don't work any better than the metals I have had.

It is worth the $100 I spent and I am so glad I bought it!!!

Didn't get our Chi from overstock, but I've bought other things from them with no problems, they were really good to work with the one time I had to return something as well.

I'm going to have to do some chi shopping soon too.
DD #1 is going away to college in the fall and thinks she is taking her chi with her... the nerve of that girl!

Just bought it!!! It was only $86 on Overstock.com - I used a 12% off code that's out for new customers to save $11. I can't believe that it's the same one that my friend paid $200 for in the salon... :thumbsup2

So if you are thinking about getting one, cats mom, this seems like a pretty cheap way to do it. Hopefully it works out well, i'll find out in 5 - 10 days (UPS)!

That is a great deal. I love mine and it is a lifesaver.

This thread is so timely as my DD wants a CHI!! Rachel has shoulder length hair which she washes, blow dries & straightens daily. I have a question for all you Chi experts: 1" or 2"? Original or Turbo? (OK, so I guess that's more than one question!). Is there a specific model you'd recommend? TIA!

I think the biggest difference in a 30.00 flat iron and a 100.+ CHI is how they get the job done. There is no comparison to how they actually work and how much more gentle they are on the hair.

Steph--you got an excellent deal. I can only do that wholesale with a coupon! Your friend's 200.00 salon CHI is because the salon is trying to make a little money one their cost (which usually runs me between 110.-150. easily!) I never make any $$ of a CHI as I resell at my cost. (I'd rather someone have one than not and few people want to invest that 200.)
