Last week we tried to buy gum at our resort (POFQ). The CM told us you can't buy gum anywhere on Disney property. As many times as we've been to Disney I guess i never tried to buy gum. Is this true, if so does anyone know why? What about the candy store? I'm assuming they don't want to clean it up any more than they need to.

You basically hit the nail on the head. Gum is not offered anywhere on Disney property because of how difficult it would be to clean it all off of the ground or anywhere else people feel like sticking it when they're done chewing.

You can purchase gum off site, bring it with you and chew it in the parks, though. They won't make you spit it out!

It's true you cannot buy gum at Disney and you're correct - it's to avoid/limit the amount of gum that gets stuck on things.

Yes..no gum....and yes..they do not want to clean it up....

I know you can't buy like..packs of gum, but do places like the Candy Cauldron or Goofy's Candy Company have gumballs?

Ok whats the other thing you can't buy on property? And I don't mean Pepsi.

Well maybe at the Hess station.

You cannot buy gum anywhere in any Disney Park WDW nor DL never have been able to -not in a candy store or anywhere.:thumbsup2 We were told years ago by a Manager that when it gets tossed into an attraction can possibly shut that ride down for awhile. The other reason was people throwing it on the ground or roof of buildings or sticking it on posts to under tables said they still find it every where. We were told it a worse problem than cigarette butts. We are not smokers but found that interesting:confused3

FYI -- Cannot even buy it at the Hess station on property. (My son asked on our last trip.)

Has anyone else seen the gum boards that they have at other parks to promote people not to stick it everywhere else?

It's newspapers. It's because they don't want the "real world" interfering.

*I guess I should have been more specific, you can't buy newspapers at the Magic Kingdom.

Some of the resorts leave a newspaper at your door, especially on concierge level. I think Swan and Dolphin do as well.

You can buy newspapers. I've seen newspaper boxes at every bus stop at the resorts I've been to, I think. I know the moderates have newspaper boxes at the bus stops.

I have a daycare and I have not allowed GUM in my house, yard or car for years! I think every rule I have has been over looked at one time or another, except for this one. If they come home from school with it in their mouth, it goes directly in the trash! I have taken it out of to many heads of air, and shoe bottoms:scared1:. I don't know a child in the world who can keep gum in their mouth with out twirling it on there fingers.
