Chevy traverse?? Do you own one

I have been keeping my eye on the Traverse for over a year. My DH drove some similar vehicle that was smaller and he hated it, and won't even hear of owning a Traverse after that. We have always owned Honda, Acura or Toyotas, you get the picture. He is very leery of American made cars. Have all y'all been ok w/ American made cars before you bought the Traverse or did any of you make the switch from Japanese made/designed autos? I think everything I've heard of about the Traverse sounds great, especially the a/c seats, as we live in the middle of hot ol' Texas. But, I've never driven or ridden in one. Thanks, sorry for the side-jack. :confused3

We don't own one but we did rent one for a week long trip. LOVED it!!!:lovestruc We have a Dodge Durango and although its a nice ride, I was so sad to give back the Traverse.

Great car, lots of space and seating! :thumbsup2

Thanks for the reply about towing!

I also thought the A/C seats only were on the GMC version? We wanted them (being in AZ) but weren't willing to pay the GMC Denali pricing. We do have heated seats.... which we never ever use!

The GMC version is the Acadia.

Too funny we have that probably in our car too! Never enough separation! But OMG my kid will be driving in 4 years then maybe they won't fight?

?? about the A/C seats. That would be awesome as we live in FL but I thought that only came on the denali version which was pretty pricey. Can you get that on other models?

Not sure which model she has...maybe she will stop back by...I don't think it is Denali...maybe she will stop back by. But they are A/C and they are so cool. I have heat in my Explorer...which I never use, but my kids love!

I was looking at the Acadia but decided to steer clear after reading all the trouble these vehicles are having. If you google "acadia leaking sunroof" you will get a lot of hits.
Also traverse dot com. The Buick enclave, traverse, acadia and saturn are all very similar. Not only have I read about the leaky roofs (a lot) but there are also engine/tranny problems. Just do your homework. Lots of reading. I was in love with the Acadia until I read about the leaking moonroof and a moonroof is a must have on my next vehicle. good luck.

The A/C seats that The Moonk's Mom (we're friends IRL ) referred to are in my Traverse. I  that feature!!! The front two seats have AC and heat options. I have a 2011 Traverse ATZ. I'm not sure if only the ATZ have that option but while car shopping on a hot August day in NC, that quickly became a feature that I refused to live without!!!!

I also think that I'm going to start loving the ability to start the engine from the remote ( Not sure what the technical term is for that). Getting into a warm car in the morning is going to ROCK!!!

I have a 2009 Saturn Outlook XR. If I hadn't gotten such a great deal on this vehicle I would have gotten a Traverse.

We've had our Traverse for 3 weeks and I love it. I'm getting around 21 mpg city which is about what I was getting in my van (Uplander) beforehand. We always drive Chevys because FIL is a GM retiree and we get a discount. This has been my favorite vehicle so far. Even my 6'4" teens are comfortable in it. The kids love the dual sunroofs (even if their's doesn't open) I love the captains chairs so the kids can get in and out easily. We test drove an 8 passenger with them and it was a total pain to get everyone in and out. It's very comfy. And holy cow the options. You can pick and choose all kinds of fun things :)

The only thing I don't like about it is the loss of trunk space over what we had in the van, but I'm getting a roof rack/hard case for Christmas so that will help when we vacation. :)

Interesting. I thought the tranny problems were with the first few years model. I'll have to look into that. I am looking to buy 2010 or new. Likely new because my husband wants certain features and I can't find everything in a used thus far.
As for a moonroof, the dealer told me about that problem in the older model and again it was corrected. I am not interested in a moonroof myself

Yes hard to beat that trunk space in the van. I will miss it but I have a hard shell. Also when I looked at the highlander the traverse had much better trunk space

I have the A/C-Heated seats in my traverse. I also have the dual sun/moonroof, and the separate radio for the kids and the towing feature and got a Thule box for the back because I didn't want to ruin my upwards view by having a roof rack holding a case blocking my sun.

I got this...

I also have the bluetooth and usb port to plug in my IPod. I have all the hand controls and full navigation and rear-view camera for backing up. I'ma little spoiled now but can't help but loving my ride.

OK I bought the traverse LTZ today. I am excited to get it! WOW was it hard to find one that had what I wanted. They had to get one from like 300 miles away. I fell in LOVE with the air conditioned seats which meant I had to get the LTZ. So I skipped the nav and sunroof (I never use the sunroof when in DH's car). Couldn't find one with a DVD player in the car colors I wanted so we are having one installed after market. Thanks for all the help

glad you got your car. I couldn't find mine in the color I wanted either. ended up purchasing on vacation in FL. My Venture window broke and the dealer we brought it to so we could fix it just happened to have my color on the lot. I sacrificed my 8 passenger for the color.

Not gonna read all the posts. But after being a DIEHARD Chevy SUV owner (3 Trailblazers), I HATE HATE HATE the Traverse. We got ours, and ditched it 18 mos later.

We live in MI and the AWD was a joke! I was spinning out like crazy, no traction, etc. I didn't like the drive either. It was super bumpy, jerky, etc.

The back row was nice, but you'd have to be a very tiny person to use it. DD always thought it was fun, but even she was crampped.

We got rid of it and I switched teams. I got a Jeep Grand Cherokee and I love it. My husband and I loved my jeep so much, he traded his chevy Malibu for a Liberty.
