Cheney Speaks out with a Clear Warning!

There are a couple human "WMDs" out there that, for some reason, we don't mess with. Why Saddam, why Iraq? Has that occurred to you? There was an axe to grind there, I'm just not sure what it was but it wasn't that bill of goods we were all sold. I guess I'm incredulous that people will still stand by that. Do you just not like to think that you've been swindled?

I fully believe that they should also be taken out of power. I do not know why Iraq but I am so sick of hearing people continue to say how unnecessary this war is. You know it is not very comforting to a very dear friend and old neighbor of mine who lost her husband in Iraq to hear this. She truly believes her husband died bringing democracy to Iraq and for her this past election over there was proof of that and many of the widows feel this way . So many say I do not support the war but I do support the troops and their famalies and I think is impossible thing to because how are giving support when you are constantly knocking their efforts and continuing to call it a failure. You know it is not real fun when your driving by a group protesters with children in the car who are holding signs like"war is murder" and "American soliders are the real terriorst"(i know that not all anti war supporters feel that way but the few that do are the ones being heard)

I didn't say it wasn't considered an ongoing threat, but I just don't think that Obama wants the public to consider it to be imminent. That is why he believes diplomacy and talks will have such a good chance at success. This is what I have heard libs support for quite some time, so not really sure why you seem so adamantly opposed to defend against it.

These things are not exclusive. The threat is imminent and ongoing, the real solutions are long-term and multi-faceted. Diplomacy doesn't displace the military, it can actually enhance the effectiveness of it.

If you atually listen to alot to what is said...many people over the hundreds of Iraq threads have said time and time again...getting Saddam out of power was not a bad thing, but piggybacking another war ontop of what we were already knee deep in was a mistake on many levels - UNLESS - there was real reason to believe that Sadda had the ability to attack us. Intelligence that was presented to us was cherry picked at best. Some of it that was presented to us was already KNOWN to be false. It was left in the speech anyway. That was not a whoops, that was a huge huge mistake.

We spent and are spending trillions to perfor a task..rebuilding their infrastructure while ours goes poorly managed. We brought an entire network of terrorists to Iraq - folks that have killed and maimed thousands of our countrrymen. We spen all that money AT THIS TIME when the money would have been better spent securing our own ports and borders,etc.

So please do sot oversimplify the argument by simply saying " unnecessary". Not the right battle to fight at the time. But instead we sent our troops in poorly equipt and poorly manned for the task at hand.

Unnecessary- possibly in the sense of we will not suffer mass casualties by not going in right now. There is not one person that if they believed Saddam was really ready to attack us would have objected to the war. We were called names for not trusting the information we were given. We were called unpatriotic for asking for more proof. We were called idiots for thinking the war would be a "quagmire". But yet we should have had more proof, we had the right to insist on it, and we certainly were right that it turned out to be a quagmore. (How many years ago was the mission accomplished?)
