Are children allowed at the Chef's table at V and A?

I know most people wouldn't want to do this, but we do basically everything with our children, and I think this would be a great experience.

I do not think so. But if they did allow them, it would still run $200 each plus tax and tip and there is no childen's menu. And the meal will take about four hours!

They didn't used to but now they strongly discourage children. Probably because of the length of time dining takes and of course the cost. They do not have any childrens menu anymore at all.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but V&A's is adults, or 10 years of age and older...anywhere in the restaurant.
And PP is correct the meal lasts 3hours + that is a long time for adults let alone children, even if they are 10 or older....I could never sit thru a meal that long and I am 40!! LOL

Are you asking for your upcoming trip? If you are it's highly unlikely that the Chefs Table is even available for any dates that you're there at this late date. The Chef's Table usually fills up one minute after the phones open 180 days before that date.

If you are thinking for a future trip, I don't think that they will open it up for one child and two infants due to the age limitations at V&A. Also, as previously mentioned, sharing meals with those under 3 wouldn't apply here, and you'd end up paying $1,000 for dinner.

It's an amazing experience, and I feel very fortunate to have dined at the Chef's Table, but it's not an experience that I would have enjoyed interrupting to change an icky diaper or worrying about a child, toddler and an infant during.

If you decide it's something you want to do with just your DH, I highly recommend Kids Nite Out. They're a fantastic sitter service with incredible staff. I can't say enough good things about them!

The age limit for V&A's is 10+. From what I have read since it went into effect, this is for the whole restaurant including the Chef's Table.

This is not a typical experience. It can be 3+ hours long, multiple courses, and there is NO kids menu. Anyone who dines there will be charged the full price of the meal.

This would be a future trip, and the dinner would be for the dinner after our Vow Renewal. We were hoping to do this after the ceremony. Sounds like it will not be an option.

Any one have any suggestions for a restaurant that is uber nice and accepts children?

It doesn't bother me to change the diapers or anything, we are use to it. I just don't know that I could leave my kids with a sitter service. We wont have any other family or friends with us for our vow renewal, as we want it to be just us, so they will need to stay with us.

I thought that V and A's would be perfect, because it would cost about the same as doing a "reception" as part of the wedding package. Not to mention, it would be awesome!

Several steps below V&A, but still Fine Dining, are Bistro de Paris upstairs in the France Pavilion (which does not have a children's menu) and Todd English's bluezoo in the Dolphin (which does have a chldren's menu). And just as V&A, neither are on any Dining Plan.

Since the OP mentioned it--as I recall from a few years ago, and things may certainly have changed, a trip to the washroom from the Chef's Table was an adventure in and of itself. The washroom was not located anywhere near the Chef's Table. A staff member very decorously escorted you through the main dining room to the washroom and back. You wound up hiking through the dining room twice for each bathroom trip. The route was somewhat circuitous. I would be a little leery of even a fairly mature 10 year old being compelled to go through this procedure on their own, although it was as seamless as possible.

I can vouch that they still walk you through the dining room to go to the bathroom, which may be why they would limit the ages allowed at the Chef's Table.

Thank you for the feedback. I will look into some of the other restaurants that were suggested. I just can't see booking a "reception" for 5 people, so I think a nice dinner after the VR will be perfect. If I need to, we can just go off property.

We did a fine dining for our anniversary, it went great...and we only had to change 1 diaper! Also, when we go on cruises, our entire family sits through the entire meal, so, I think they are just use to it. Stuff like that just doesn't bother us. The other thing, our children are really good at meals, and if they ever were disturbing, I would immediately escort them out until they were behaving appropriately. There is only one way to teach your children things....let them experience them!

While your children may be able to deal with it, not all children can. V&A's is a very different experience and very VERY expensive. They used to allow younger children, but then changed it to a minimum age. My guess, people complained. Some complained because they had children who ruined the meal for them by being too loud or acting out and the parents did nothing. Some complained because the restaurant wouldn't provide their poor darlings with a peanut and butter sandwich but instead insisted the child pay the full amount and eat the normal menu.

is the The Chef's Domain at Citricos. It's a bit more casual than V&A. There is some interaction between the guests and kitchen staff. The price may not be higher. It's a minimum of $650 but you can have up to 12 guests.
