"chef's specials"

Some menus seem to have a chef's choice where you pick 3 items (ap, main course, dessert) from an approved list of a few each...Can you get that on the regular dining plan? I don't know if you can since the regular dining plan won't let you get an appetizer...Chef's De France has this option and so does Le Cellier.

Yes, you are allowed to get these 3-course meals on the regular DDP but no substitutions are allowed.

I wasn't aware of the "chef's specials"? Does anyone know which restaurants have this and what items might be included?

TIA

Le Cellier, Chefs de France and Captain's Grille have fixed price menus available on the regular dining plan - including an appetizer.

The purpose of these menus is to steer the dining plan users away from the more expensive entrees with the offer of an appetizer. So you can expect that you will find the cheaper entrees on these menus. If you prefer one of the more expensive entrees, you are far better off getting it and paying cash for an appetizer if you want one.

No substitutions are allowed if you order from the fixed price menu. According to many reports here, if you order from that menu you will not even be permitted to substitute the sides.
